How long does it take to recover from labia minora surgery?

Some women may undergo surgery to make their genitals more beautiful or if there is some hyperplasia in the reproductive system. Labia minora surgery is a surgical procedure that can remove labia minora tissue or make the shape of the labia minora more beautiful. Depending on the surgical method, the patient's recovery time after labia minora surgery will also be slightly different.

1. Surgical subjects:

Labiaplasty is a plastic surgery for enlarged labia minora (the width exceeds the labia majora by more than 10 mm), deformed labia minora or obvious asymmetry of the labia minora.

2. Clinical surgery:

There are many commonly used labia minora reduction surgeries in clinical practice, the basic ones being arcuate excision and suture, wedge excision and suture, and epidermal removal and suture. The remaining procedures are mostly modifications and combinations of the above basic procedures. During the operation, efforts should be made to maintain the natural shape, skin color and local function of the labia minora. At the same time, excessive surgical trauma should be avoided, scar tissue should be hidden and reduced, and adhesion formation should be prevented. The operation should be minimally invasive, safe, with few complications and rapid postoperative recovery, so as to achieve the natural and beautiful appearance of the labia minora.

3. Complications:

1. Bleeding:

It is mostly caused by incomplete hemostasis during surgery or loose ligature. If you experience these symptoms, you should seek medical attention immediately.

2. Infection:

Failure to effectively control vulvar inflammation before surgery, failure to pay attention to aseptic operation or rough surgical operation, and urine contamination of the wound after surgery can all lead to incision infection. After infection occurs, some sutures should be removed to ensure smooth drainage, bed rest, and antibacterial drugs should be used.

The labia minora contains abundant blood vessels and a large number of elastic fibers. During female sexual arousal, the blood flow and blood volume of the labia minora tissue increase. The blood supply patterns of the labia minora are mainly divided into trunk type and parallel type, which are related to the morphology of the labia minora. The trunk blood supply pattern is common in the labia minora, which are locally prominent, and the blood vessels are distributed radially to the edge of the labia minora. Therefore, when performing reduction surgery on the labia minora where local tissue protrudes, there is a possibility of damaging the main blood vessels and causing necrosis at the distal end of the flap.
