I haven't had my period for almost two months. What's going on?

When women reach physical maturity, they will have menstruation every month. Unless you enter pregnancy. But sometimes, a woman’s menstruation does not come on time. If it is delayed or advanced by 7 days, it is still normal and the normal cycle can be restored with proper conditioning. But if your period hasn't come for a long time, you should take it seriously. What happens if I haven’t had my period for almost two months?

First, if you are pregnant, women of childbearing age, if your menstruation is delayed for more than a week, you need to first use a pregnancy test stick to self-check whether you are pregnant. For a positive result with two red bars, you can consider further going to the obstetrics department of the hospital for a blood test for hcg. A significantly elevated level of this indicator can confirm early pregnancy.

Second, if the possibility of pregnancy is ruled out and menstruation has not occurred for two consecutive months, it is considered to be caused by endocrine disorders.

At this time, it is recommended to go to the hospital to check six endocrine tests and three thyroid function tests. Generally speaking, ovarian endocrine dysfunction can cause progressive amenorrhea. The most common disease is polycystic ovary syndrome, followed by ovarian cysts. In addition, if prolactin is elevated, it can also cause progressive amenorrhea in women. The most common disease is hyperprolactinemia caused by pituitary microadenoma. Polycystic ovary syndrome can be diagnosed through sex hormone tests and gynecological B-ultrasound examinations; estrogen treatment can restore the menstrual cycle; patients with hyperprolactinemia need long-term use of bromocriptine to restore normal menstrual cycles.

Third, delayed menstruation caused by endometrial lesions. Especially for patients who have had miscarriages and women who frequently use long-acting or short-acting contraceptives, they are prone to endometrial hyperplasia. When the thickness of the endometrium is more than 10mm, it is not easy to have menstruation, or the menstruation will be continuous. In addition, if the miscarriage process is not handled properly, the recovery of the endometrium is poor, and the endometrium is thin, it will also lead to progressive amenorrhea. Gynecological B-ultrasound examination can provide a clear diagnosis, and active treatment measures can be taken based on the results to restore menstruation.
