How to check if the fallopian tube is blocked

How to check if the fallopian tube is blocked

Although the symptoms caused by fallopian tube blockage to the patient's body in the early stage are not very obvious, fallopian tube blockage is a reproductive system disease after all, so the physiological phenomena of female patients will undergo corresponding changes. After the fallopian tube is blocked, the patient will have more obvious symptoms in the lower abdomen. For female friends, it is also very necessary to self-check whether there is fallopian tube blockage.

1. What are the symptoms of fallopian tube obstruction?

1. Low back pain

Soreness, swelling, and a feeling of heaviness in the lower back, back, and sacrum are often aggravated by fatigue or sexual intercourse.

2. Pain during sexual intercourse

During sexual intercourse, women experience discomfort such as pulling pain or cramping pain in the lower abdomen.

3. Dysmenorrhea

Long-term chronic inflammation of the fallopian tubes can lead to pelvic congestion, which in turn causes dysmenorrhea due to blood stasis. Dysmenorrhea is often accompanied by abdominal pain that starts one week before menstruation, and becomes more severe as the menstrual period approaches, until the onset of menstruation.

4. Infertility

The fallopian tube plays an important role in transporting sperm, absorbing eggs and transporting fertilized eggs to the uterine cavity. When the fallopian tube is damaged by lesions, it becomes blocked, hindering the passage of sperm and fertilized eggs, leading to infertility.

5. Irregular menstruation

When the inflammation of the fallopian tubes spreads to the ovaries, it will cause varying degrees of damage to the ovarian function, thus causing menstrual abnormalities. Among them, frequent menstruation and excessive menstrual flow are the most common.

2. How to check for fallopian tube obstruction?

1. Ultrasound examination

A common check for fallopian tube obstruction is that hydrosalpinx can be detected on ultrasound, showing as thickened, fluid-filled dark areas on both sides of the uterus. However, ultrasound examination cannot confirm whether it is hydrosalpinx or ovarian cyst, it can only diagnose that there is a possibility of hydrosalpinx.

2. Hydrotubation

Hydrotubation is a procedure in which a tube is inserted into the uterine cavity of the person being examined and liquid is injected. The liquid has passed through the uterine cavity and fallopian tube cavity into the abdominal cavity, indicating that the fallopian tube is unobstructed. However, hydrotubation is generally not used due to its backward technology.

3. Hysterosalpingography by X-ray

Hysterosalpingography can clearly show whether the fallopian tubes are unobstructed or the degree of fallopian tube blockage. This method can also examine the condition of the endometrium in the pelvic cavity. It is currently the most common method for diagnosing fallopian tube patency.

4. Laparoscopy

Laparoscopic examination cannot accurately examine the degree of blockage in the interstitial part, isthmus, and ampulla of the fallopian tube, so it is only suitable for follow-up examination of salpingography.
