Can blocked fallopian tubes be detected by ultrasound?

Can blocked fallopian tubes be detected by ultrasound?

Once a woman has fallopian tube blockage, it will affect her ability to conceive normally. Since there are no obvious symptoms in women's bodies after the problem of fallopian tube blockage occurs, most women simply ignore their bodies and suffer from fallopian tube blockage. Under normal circumstances, hysterosalpingography can effectively detect blockage problems. So can B-ultrasound detect fallopian tube blockage?

If you have blocked fallopian tubes, it cannot be detected by B-ultrasound. You can wait until 3 to 7 days after your period ends, and then go to a local regular public hospital for a hysterosalpingography. Based on the results of the hysterosalpingography, the doctor can check the specific situation and decide whether a fallopian tube anastomosis surgery can be performed to clear the fallopian tubes. As long as the operation can be performed, the chance of pregnancy after the operation can reach more than 50%.

What tests are needed to diagnose fallopian tube obstruction?

1. Hysterosalpingography

Hysterosalpingography is mainly performed by injecting examination substances into the uterine cavity. Under X-ray irradiation, a clear contrast is formed with the surrounding tissues. Through the uterine cavity imaging, blockage and infection of the fallopian tubes can be detected.

2. Fallopian tube endoscopy

A fallopian tube endoscopy is an imaging technique used to examine the internal structure of the fallopian tube lumen. During the examination, a rigid fallopian tube endoscope is used to visualize the entire length and mucosa of the fallopian tube, thereby clearly determining whether there is fallopian tube blockage.

3. Laparoscopy

Laparoscopic examination mainly involves injecting methylene blue solution into the uterine cavity through a uterine catheter, and using a laparoscope to observe whether the methylene blue solution can overflow into the pelvic cavity when passing through the fimbria of the fallopian tube. If it can overflow, it means that the fallopian tube is unobstructed and there is no blockage. If there is a blockage near the fallopian tube, the methylene blue solution will not overflow.

There are no symptoms of fallopian tube obstruction, and most women discover it after examination. Therefore, if a woman experiences infertility for a long time, she should be alert to whether her fallopian tubes are blocked. At this time, relevant imaging examinations should be carried out. Only through examinations can she know the condition of her fallopian tubes and take measures to treat them.
