Under normal circumstances, the amount of leucorrhea is very small, transparent, shiny, sticky, and odorless. It increases before the menstrual cycle, during ovulation, and during pregnancy. If it stays in the vagina for too long, it may be slightly yellow. If the leucorrhea increases, turns yellow, and has an odor, it is mostly a clinical manifestation of vaginitis and cervicitis. If you have had sexual intercourse, you should be careful because it will greatly increase the chance of infection. It is yellow or yellow-green in color, sticky, and often has a foul odor. It can be caused by acute vaginitis, cervicitis, and endocervicitis caused by bacteria such as Trichomonas or gonococci.

1. Fungal vaginitis:

Symptoms of candidal vaginitis: The leucorrhea is yellow or white, typically in the shape of tofu dregs or curds, and is accompanied by vulvar itching. Most of the time, it is thick in texture, but sometimes it can be thin and slightly smelly. Candidal vaginitis is caused by fungal infection and has a higher incidence rate than Trichomonas vaginitis. Candidal vaginitis can destroy the normal weakly acidic environment in the vagina. Inflammatory cells can phagocytize sperm, weakening their motility. Fungi can also agglutinate sperm, so it will have a certain impact on conception.

2. Trichomonas vaginitis:

Symptoms of Trichomonas vaginitis: The leucorrhea is yellow or yellow-green, thin and thick, with a large amount of foam, accompanied by vulvar itching and a foul odor. When suffering from Trichomonas vaginitis, the change in the acidity and alkalinity of the vaginal environment will affect the motility of sperm. In addition, Trichomonas can devour sperm, and when suffering from Trichomonas vaginitis, the purulent secretions in the vagina increase significantly, and the secretions contain a large number of white blood cells, which will hinder the survival of sperm, reduce the number of sperm, and poor motility, which is very likely to cause infertility.

3. Senile vaginitis:

Symptoms of senile vaginitis: yellow watery or purulent leucorrhea, increased leucorrhea with a foul odor, bloody leucorrhea, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen and vagina, and a burning sensation in the vagina. Senile vaginitis is common in elderly women after menopause. It is caused by the decline of ovarian function, decreased estrogen levels, atrophy of the vaginal wall, thinning of the mucosa, decreased glycogen content in epithelial cells, increased pH value in the vagina, and reduced local resistance, making it easy for pathogenic bacteria to invade and multiply, causing inflammation.

4. Cervical erosion:

Symptoms of cervical erosion: yellow leucorrhea, increased volume, purulent, and mostly odorless. Cervical erosion is caused by inflammatory stimulation, which causes the epithelial cells covering the surface of the cervix to fall off, while the columnar epithelial cells underneath protrude outward and replace the fallen epithelium. Because the capillaries of the columnar epithelium are exposed, the inflamed area appears bright red, so it is called cervical erosion, but it is not true erosion. Clinically, it is divided into simple, granular and papillary types according to the surface condition of the cervix. It is also divided into mild, moderate and severe degrees according to the ratio of the erosion area to the cervical surface.
