What are the signs of weaning?

Weaning is a phenomenon that many women experience when they are weaning their children. During the weaning period, women need to endure a certain amount of pain. After this period of time, their breasts will no longer secrete milk and will be no different from normal women's breasts. Of course, before weaning, a woman's body will undergo certain changes. Next, I will introduce to you some related knowledge such as the signs of weaning!

1. What are the signs of weaning?

1. The breasts are soft and not bloated. The baby sucks frequently without any swallowing sound and cries easily.

2. When weaning, your breasts will feel swollen and painful, and the amount of milk will become less and less. If you don't want your milk to stop coming out, you must insist on letting your baby suck, or use a breast pump to suck out the excess milk.

2. Factors that cause milk withdrawal

1. Breast lumps, which should not be ignored, are one of the killers of milk weaning. There are often mothers whose milk is blocked and forms lumps due to milk engorgement. If the lumps are not dealt with after two or three days, they begin to develop pain, mastitis, and fever. They go to the hospital, get IV drips, and get their fever reduced. After going through all these processes, their milk supply suddenly becomes less, or even almost disappears. Some mothers have milk filling in the middle of the night but are too sleepy to get up and express it, which also leads to this consequence.

2. Obstruction from family members, especially the older generation who think milk powder is the best. The mother cow herself is not firm in her stance because the elders always say that the baby will not be full if there is not enough milk. As a result, the baby adds more and more milk powder, but consumes less and less milk.

3. Mothers with little milk like to save milk. After feeding the baby, the baby falls asleep. As a result, when the milk is full again, they are reluctant to squeeze it out and want to wait for the baby to wake up, which results in a vicious cycle.

4. The body does not have the confidence to produce more milk, so the milk stored becomes less and less. Some mothers even have a high fever when storing milk, and the milk returns after the fever subsides.

3. Precautions for weaning

1. If the mother's breasts are swollen and uncomfortable, she can squeeze out the milk, but don't squeeze it out completely, otherwise it will promote milk secretion and have the opposite effect.

2. During the weaning period, you should pay attention to reducing stimulation to the breasts and nipples. The secretion of prolactin will decrease accordingly, and the secretion of milk will gradually decrease. Never let your baby suck your breast milk or touch it, and avoid using hot water to rinse your breasts when taking a shower.

3. You can use ice packs to cool your breasts to relieve the feeling of swelling.

4. If you find a lump in your breast, rub it with your hands in time to prevent mastitis.

5. When choosing diet during weaning, you should avoid foods that promote milk secretion, such as peanuts, pig's trotters, crucian carp, soups, etc., and eat less protein-rich foods, which can reduce milk secretion.

6. Try to avoid using hormone drugs or milk-suppressing injections, as they can easily cause breast atrophy or breast secretion problems.
