How long does it take for a baby to be full if the milk supply is sufficient?

After the baby is born, breast milk is the baby's only staple food, and when there is sufficient milk, it can provide the baby with better nutrition. When there is sufficient milk, the time for feeding is generally determined by the baby's appetite. When the baby finishes feeding and is full, he will show a very satisfied emotion, and the baby will also master the rhythm of feeding.

How to judge whether the baby is full? Mothers can refer to these characteristics

1. Baby's performance

If the baby is emotionally stable or happy after feeding, it means the little one is satisfied and full. If the baby continues to cry after feeding, has a natural milk-seeking reaction, and sucks his fingers, it means the baby is not full.

2. Breastfeeding rhythm

The mother can observe that if the milk supply is sufficient, the baby will suck the breast and swallow the milk in a rhythmic and regular manner. Generally, the baby will swallow the milk after two or three sucks. If your milk supply is low, your baby may suck and swallow in a haphazard manner because not enough milk comes out at each suck.

3. Diapers

The saying "you poop as much as you eat" is absolutely true. You can also judge whether your baby is full by looking at the frequency and amount of bowel movements. If your baby uses 4 to 6 diapers a day, it means your baby is full.

4. Bowel movement frequency

The baby's meconium also gradually transitions to that of an adult's. It starts out as green meconium, then slowly turns into golden yellow with breast milk, and then slowly becomes more like an adult's after starting to eat complementary foods. For a newborn baby, we can judge by the number of times the baby poops. If the baby poops 2 to 3 times a day, it is normal. However, after the baby reaches 2 months old, the frequency of bowel movements begins to decrease and the intervals between bowel movements begin to increase, sometimes lasting several days or even a week.

5. Soft breasts

If there is nothing wrong with your breast milk secretion and both breasts become soft after each feeding, this is a good sign that your baby is full.

6. Steady weight gain

The weight of a newborn baby may decrease for a period of time, usually by about 5%. This is normal and the baby will usually start to recover after the confinement period. After weight restoration, the baby's weight will slowly increase, but the rate of increase may vary from baby to baby.
