What does irregular menstruation mean?

I believe that women are not unfamiliar with irregular menstruation, because most women have experienced irregular menstruation. The main manifestation of irregular menstruation is early or delayed menstruation. If a woman has irregular menstruation for a long time, she should pay attention to this phenomenon. Long-term menstrual irregularities may indicate a problem with the female endocrine system. Let us now take a look at what irregular menstruation means for women.

1. Early menstruation

Generally speaking, women have their periods once a month. If your menstrual cycle was normal before, but you suddenly have two periods in one month, or the time interval between two periods is less than 21 days, this means your period is early. But if it only happens once in a while, then it is not a big problem and it is a normal phenomenon.

2. Delayed menstruation

When there is a one-month interval between two menstrual periods, but the menstruation still does not come, and the interval beyond that has exceeded one week or only comes once every two or three months, then this is delayed menstruation. If the menstrual cycle lasts for two or three months, it is considered irregular menstruation and you need to go to the hospital for treatment in time.

3. Heavy menstrual flow

During menstruation, the amount of fluid is the largest in the first three days, but if the amount is very large throughout the menstrual period, it may be caused by irregular menstruation. If this phenomenon of heavy menstrual flow only occurs once or twice during the entire menstrual period, it is not a big deal. It may be because there is no normal ovulation that month, which leads to an increase in estrogen and thickening of the uterine lining, which increases the amount of menstrual flow. If your menstrual flow is heavy almost every time in a year and your complexion is not very good, you need to go to the hospital to see a doctor in time.

4. Small amount of menstruation

If your menstruation only comes for two days or your period is normal but the amount of blood each day is only a few drops, which is significantly less than the normal amount of blood, then you have irregular menstruation.

Menstruation is very important for women. Once symptoms of irregular menstruation appear, the body will develop corresponding symptoms, and severe cases may lead to difficulties in getting pregnant. Therefore, during menstruation, we must take care of our bodies, avoid touching cold water or eating cold food, and eat more blood-replenishing and qi-invigorating foods to ensure that our menstruation is normal.
