Uterine vaccine age

Uterine vaccine age

The uterine vaccine, also known as the cervical cancer vaccine, is a vaccine that has attracted more and more attention from women today. It is also a vaccine that can effectively prevent diseases such as cervical cancer. Of course, a certain age is required for cervical cancer vaccination. The best age for cervical cancer vaccination is fifteen years old. Next, I will introduce you to some relevant knowledge about cervical cancer vaccine!

1. Introduction to cervical cancer vaccine

The cervical cancer vaccine (HPV vaccine) is made from the virus coat and has a very simple composition. For the quadrivalent HPV vaccine, the main ingredient is inactive proteins derived from human papillomavirus types 6, 11, 16, and 18. It also contains sodium chloride, L-histidine, sodium borate, injection water, etc.

2. Best Age for Vaccination

Professor Liu Jihong, deputy director of the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and director of the Department of Gynecology, introduced that for every 1 million HPV-infected people, 100,000 will develop cervical cytological abnormalities, of which 8,000 will develop high-grade lesions and 1,600 will eventually develop cervical cancer. That is to say, the probability of HPV-infected people developing cervical cancer is 0.2%. There is no specific medicine to eliminate this viral infection. It can only be cured by improving the body's immunity and producing antibodies to eliminate the virus. Liu Jihong pointed out that after being infected with the virus, it usually takes 10-15 years to develop into cervical cancer, so clinical primary and secondary prevention are very important. The primary prevention is vaccination. The world's first tumor vaccine - cervical cancer vaccine has been born. The best age for vaccination is 15 years old.

3. Side Effects

Cervarix, a cervical cancer vaccine produced by GlaxoSmithKline, has been reported to cause some side effects in the UK.

There are two human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines on the market worldwide, namely Gardasil developed by Merck and GlaxoSmithKline's HPV vaccine. The HPV vaccine claims to be 100% protective against cervical cancer caused by HPV16 and HPV18 types of lesions, and 70% of cervical cancers are caused by these two types of HPV lesions. The vaccine currently used in the UK is the Vaccine Hypoallergenics, which is designed for girls aged 12 to 13. In 2008, a total of 700,000 girls in the UK were vaccinated with this vaccine.

The vaccine is suitable for women aged 10 to 45 years and is administered intramuscularly three times within six months. In the UK, since the launch of the immunization program in September 2008, the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, a drug safety monitoring organization, has recorded a total of 1,340 reports of side effects after the injection. Most cases are mild, such as rash, swelling and pain at the injection site, or allergic reactions. Some people also experience fever, nausea, dizziness, muscle weakness and paralysis.

But UK government health experts insist the vaccine is safe. Health experts also say many reactions come from the act of getting the shot itself rather than from the vaccine.

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency said many of the reported reactions are not necessarily side effects of the vaccine. "Among the adverse reactions reported to the agency and suspected to be related to the Vaccine, the majority were either symptoms of known side effects listed in the product instructions or were caused by the injection rather than the vaccine itself," the agency said in its latest report released Thursday.
