Stretch marks are a problem that bothers many people. When they appear on their skin, they will form ugly marks, and these marks are difficult to completely disappear in a short period of time. The skin will also feel very itchy. These are a series of symptoms caused by stretch marks. Therefore, after they occur, you should maintain skin elasticity and replenish the skin with more moisture to improve stretch marks.

Frequent location

Stretch marks mostly occur on the sides of the abdomen, inner thighs, buttocks and chest, and are roughly centered on the navel, forming a multi-ring distribution. Stretch marks can be large or small. Some may only be on the outer abdomen or thighs, while others may be all over the abdomen and lower chest. When they first form, the lines are deep and appear as irregular purple-red strips, often accompanied by a pulling sensation or slight itching; six months to a year after delivery, they will gradually turn into silvery-white atrophic scars.

Stretch marks can cause the following 6 problems:

1. Itchy skin.

2. It can easily cause skin rashes.

3. The effect of laser treatment is not obvious and may cause psychological problems.

4. The skin appears loose and wrinkled.

5. It can cause breast sagging.

6. It can cause abdominal fat accumulation, seriously affecting women’s body shape and physical and mental health after childbirth.

Most women develop many reddish or purple stripes on the skin of their upper thighs, abdomen, breasts, etc. during the 5th to 6th month of pregnancy. These stripes are called “stretch marks”.

Due to endocrine changes during pregnancy, the elasticity (fibers) in the skin weakens and becomes more brittle, and the walls of subcutaneous capillaries and veins become thinner and dilated. After 5 months of pregnancy, the uterus grows larger and the breasts grow larger due to the development of mammary tissue and the deposition of adipose tissue, causing the skin of the breasts, abdomen and upper thighs to stretch and thin, and the elastic fibers to break, allowing the color of the subcutaneous blood vessels to show through, forming stretch marks. Although it is impossible to completely eliminate stretch marks once they occur, if their presence is stressful to you both physically and mentally, you can undergo a fruit acid peel treatment to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

The correct name of these marks is "linear skin atrophy". When the collagen fibers of the dermis in the skin shrink or break due to some reasons, the underlying area and blood vessels appear as red lines.

As the fetus in the womb of a pregnant woman continues to develop, the skin tissue loses elasticity due to the rupture of elastic fibers, leaving stretch marks. If the weight and body shape of the pregnant woman continue to increase, the spread of the stretch marks will also increase.
