How many years does it usually take for a woman to menstruate?

Women's menstruation is time-limited. Women will reach menopause as they age. Menstruation can also be said to be a symbol of youth for women. If a woman reaches menopause, it means that the body has aged. Since women have menstruation every month, most people suffer from anemia. Women should eat more blood-enriching foods to replenish their blood. How many years does it usually take for women to have menstruation? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. How many years does it usually take for a woman to have her period?

Generally speaking, girls have their first menstruation at the age of 12 or 13 and menopause at the age of 49. So menstruation can last about 37 years. However, due to the influence of the current environment, diet, emotions and other factors, some women begin to enter menopause around the age of 40. Some women don't approach until they are in their 50s. There is a 9-year-old child who has his first period, so it is not particularly fixed now. As long as the menstrual cycle is normal, the menstrual volume is normal, and the menstrual period duration is normal, there is generally no need to worry too much.

2. How does menstruation come about?

Menstruation is regulated by the interaction between reproductive hormones from the hypothalamus, pituitary gland and ovary. During the menstrual period and proliferation period of the menstrual cycle, the levels of estradiol and progesterone in the blood are very low, thereby weakening or eliminating the negative feedback effect on the pituitary gland and hypothalamus, leading to increased secretion of gonadotropin by the hypothalamus, which in turn leads to increased secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone by the pituitary gland, thereby causing follicle development and a gradual increase in estrogen secretion. At this time, estrogen stimulates the endometrium to enter the proliferative phase. Luteinizing hormone increases the secretion of progesterone, leading to ovulation. During this period, both estrogen and progesterone levels increase. This produces a negative feedback inhibitory effect on the hypothalamus and pituitary gland, thereby reducing the levels of ovulation-stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone, leading to corpus luteum degeneration, and then reducing estrogen and progesterone levels. The endometrium loses the support of these two hormones and begins to shed and bleed, which is when menstruation occurs. At this time, the decrease in estrogen and progesterone begins the next menstrual cycle.

3. Menstrual taboos

Menstruation refers to the periodic shedding and bleeding of the endometrium. The occurrence of menstruation is one of the signs of mature reproductive function. During menstruation, women's resistance is weakened. To avoid adverse effects on the body, the following behaviors should be avoided:

1. Sexual intercourse: During menstruation, the endometrium is shed and wounds are formed on the surface of the uterine cavity. During sexual intercourse, bacteria are easily brought into the uterus, causing intrauterine infection, adnexitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc.

2. Beat the waist: Lower back pain during menstruation is often caused by pelvic congestion. Beating the waist may cause more pelvic congestion and aggravate lower back pain. In addition, beating the waist during menstruation is not conducive to the healing of the wound after the endometrium is shed, and it may lead to a prolonged menstrual period.

3. Strong tea and coffee: Because they contain high caffeine, they can easily stimulate nerves and cause menstrual pain and other uncomfortable symptoms.
