What to do if you have a unicornuate uterus

I believe that many people do not know what the symptoms of unicornuate uterus are. Under normal circumstances, the uterus is bicornuate, so that the fallopian tubes and ovaries can function normally. However, if a unicornuate uterus occurs, women will be prone to miscarriage and dystocia, and may also have no uterus and uterine malformations. Therefore, if a unicornuate uterus occurs, you need to go to the hospital for treatment, and the treatment process needs to avoid uterine torsion.

What is a unicornuate uterus?

One side of the mesonephric duct is well developed, forming a well-developed unicornuate uterus with a normally developed fallopian tube. The development of the contralateral paramesonephric duct completely stops. A unicornuate uterus may function normally. If pregnancy occurs, the pregnancy and delivery process may be normal, but it may also cause miscarriage or dystocia.

What are the dangers of unicornuate uterus

1. Infertility: Many people who have no uterus, have a deformed uterus, or have an immature uterus seek medical treatment for infertility.

2. Pathological pregnancy: Complications are also very likely to occur during pregnancy, such as the fertilized egg implanting on the underdeveloped uterine wall or mediastinum, affecting the development of the embryo. These can lead to early miscarriage, habitual miscarriage, premature birth, etc.

3. Menstrual abnormalities: Those with primordial uterus or no uterus generally present with primary amenorrhea. A young uterus may produce scant menstrual flow. In patients with double uterus, bicornuate uterus and duplicate uterus, menorrhagia or prolonged menstruation may occur due to the increase in endometrial area.

4. Pathology during and after delivery: An abnormally developed uterus is often accompanied by uterine muscle hypoplasia, which can easily lead to dystocia, and spontaneous uterine rupture can usually be seen. Placental retention and postpartum uterine atony bleeding are common after delivery.
