Breast cancer age

Breast cancer age

Breast cancer is a type of cancer and also one of the cancers with a relatively high incidence rate. The incidence of breast cancer is relatively high among middle-aged women. Of course, nowadays this disease has also begun to appear among many young people. Breast cancer poses a great risk to patients, so treatment is still very important. Here is some information about breast cancer!

1. Age groups with a high incidence of breast cancer

The age of breast cancer incidence in my country tends to be younger. The Beijing Institute of Oncology once screened out more than 100 cases of breast cancer among more than 20,000 women and more than 1,000 outpatients who participated in the survey in Beijing, the youngest of whom was only 17 years old. A 15-year follow-up survey conducted by the Beijing Cancer Prevention and Treatment Institute shows that there are currently two high-incidence age groups for female breast cancer: around 41 to 45 years old and around 60 years old. The detection rate of breast cancer is only 1%.

2. What should women do in the high-risk age group for breast cancer?

The breast types in the two high-incidence age groups of breast cancer are different. The glandular type is the main type of disease around the age of 41 to 45, while the ductal type is the main type of disease around the age of 60. There are four types of female breasts: dense glandular, translucent fatty, ductal and mixed. The incidence of ductal and mixed breast cancer is relatively high. For this reason, doctors recommend that adult women go to a hospital with testing conditions to see what type of breast they have. If you belong to one of the two high-incidence types, you should pay special attention to daily breast examinations.

3. Self-examination methods for breast cancer

Experts recommend that women should do breast self-examination after the age of 30. Compared with going to the hospital for examination, self-examination is more convenient. If you master the self-examination method accurately, you can "catch" breast cancer in time. Reports show that 90% of breast cancers are discovered through self-examination. People at high risk of breast cancer include those who have their first menstruation before the age of 12, those who reach menopause after the age of 55, those who are unmarried or infertile after marriage, those who have had multiple abortions before the first birth, those who do not breastfeed after giving birth, those who have a history of benign breast tumors, those who consume too much high-fat food, and those who have a family history of breast cancer. You can perform a breast self-examination by following these steps:

1. Stand in front of a mirror with your hands on your hips, turn your body left and right, and check the skin of your breasts on both sides in the mirror for any abnormalities. Then, raise your hands above your head and observe your nipples for any abnormalities.

2. Sit or stand and check the inside of your breast for lumps. Raise your left hand behind your head, and use your right hand to check your left breast. At this time, keep the fingers of your right hand together and massage in a clockwise direction above the nipple and below the clavicle. Be careful not to press or squeeze with your fingertips. Examine the right breast in the same way. After examining the breasts, gently squeeze the nipples with your index and middle fingers. If there is bloody discharge, it indicates that the breast may be cancerous.

3. Don’t be alarmed if you feel uneven soft tissue or lumps, as this may be lobular hyperplasia. According to surveys, 70% to 80% of women have varying degrees of lobular hyperplasia. The easiest way to differentiate lobular hyperplasia from breast cancer is to see if the mass changes with your menstrual cycle. Lobular hyperplasia usually becomes larger and thicker before menstruation and disappears or becomes smaller after menstruation ends. Breast cancer lumps do not change with the menstrual cycle.
