What are the causes of vaginal candidiasis?

Vaginitis is one of the common gynecological diseases in women. Vaginitis will cause symptoms such as vulvar itching, abnormal leucorrhea, and odor. Vaginitis is divided into several types, including candidal vaginitis, Trichomonas vaginitis, etc. To treat vaginitis, you must first find out which type of vaginitis is causing it, and then treat it symptomatically. What are the causes of candidal vaginitis? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. What are the causes of fungal vaginitis?

Candidal vaginitis is mainly caused by vaginal Candida infection. Candida is a type of fungus. Fungi invade the stratum corneum of the epidermis, and their metabolites can cause inflammation of the dermis. The reaction manifests itself on the skin as erythema, papules, blisters and desquamation, and causes obvious itching. Under normal circumstances, women who carry this fungus will not develop the disease. However, when the body's resistance is low, such as when the condition of leukemia, diabetes, etc. worsens, it is easy to develop candidal vaginitis. If broad-spectrum antibiotics, glucocorticoids, immunosuppressants, etc. are used in large quantities, it will lead to an imbalance of vaginal flora, causing many conditional pathogens such as Candida and Aspergillus to develop and multiply in large numbers, causing candidal vaginitis. Candidal vaginitis can also be caused by direct contact with large amounts of fungi, such as touching the vagina with hands that have been exposed to athlete's foot, washing socks and underwear together, sexual contact, sharing bathtubs and toilets, etc.

2. Drug treatment

For simple vulvovaginal candidiasis, local medication is the main choice. Generally, the symptoms will be alleviated or disappear within 2-3 days after medication. Clotrimazole vaginal suppository, use every 3 days, 2 times in total. Regarding the treatment of complicated vulvovaginal candidiasis, the selected drugs are basically the same as those for simple vulvovaginal candidiasis. Whether local or systemic medications are used, the treatment time should be appropriately extended.

3. Diet adjustment

Generally, you should eat light food, mainly high in protein and low in fat, eat more vegetables and fruits, such as bananas, sweet potatoes, celery, etc., and avoid spicy foods and drinks such as chili peppers, peppercorns, raw onions, raw garlic, and white wine.
