Can breast cysts cause disease?

Breast cysts are most likely caused by blockage of the milk ducts. Breast cysts and breast hyperplasia are both diseases caused by breast lesions. Breast cysts occur on the basis of breast hyperplasia. Therefore, during the treatment process, people should make targeted adjustments. If breast diseases are not treated for a long time, they may turn into breast cancer, which is very dangerous. So can breast cysts become disease-causing?

Breast cysts, if they are simple cysts, will not become cancerous. Breast cysts are generally caused by breast hyperplasia. Breast hyperplasia, also known as cystic breast hyperplasia, is a common disease among middle-aged women. The cause of this disease is related to the imbalance of estrogen-progesterone ratio in the body, excessive hyperplasia of breast parenchyma and incomplete rejuvenation. Hyperplasia can occur around the glandular ducts, within the glandular ducts, and in the parenchyma of the lobules, and the pathological morphology is diverse.

Those that occur around the glandular ducts are accompanied by the formation of cysts of varying sizes, which contain light yellow or brown fluid. Those occurring within the glandular ducts manifest as varying degrees of papillary hyperplasia accompanied by cystic dilatation of the milk ducts. Those occurring in the lobular parenchyma are mainly hyperplasia of the milk duct and alveolar epithelium. If a lump appears due to hyperplasia and the lump is hard in texture, and a puncture biopsy suggests atypical epithelial hyperplasia, and there is a family history of breast cancer and a history of contralateral breast cancer, such hyperplasia should be closely examined regularly with color Doppler ultrasound and mammography. Repeated puncture biopsies should be performed when necessary to prevent cancer.

Generally, breast cysts are common benign diseases of the breast, so in most cases there is no possibility of canceration. However, when performing daily breast color ultrasound examinations, you should pay attention to observation. It is possible that the breast color ultrasound will show that in addition to breast cysts, there will be some calcification of the cyst wall. In this case, you need to be highly vigilant. It may not be just a breast cyst, and there may also be the possibility of breast cancer. An experienced doctor is needed to further clarify it through examination.
