Not pregnant on ovulation day

Not pregnant on ovulation day

Some people will specifically choose to have sex on the day of ovulation, because the chances of successful conception on this day will be very high. Couples who want children will look forward to this day, but if they fail to get pregnant on the day of ovulation, this will greatly affect their mood and make them lose confidence in successful conception. In fact, ovulation day is not necessarily 100% successful, so you should still be confident.

Ovulation test strips predict ovulation by detecting the peak level of luteinizing hormone (LH). Within 24 to 48 hours before a woman ovulates, the luteinizing hormone (LH) in her urine will reach a peak level, and the result of self-testing with an ovulation test strip will be positive.

Enter your menstrual cycle and the start time of your last menstrual period, and start testing with the test strip on the date marked in red. If the test result is negative, you can test every other day. If a weak positive result appears, you need to test every day. If a strong positive result appears (that is, both the test line and the control line are very obvious), it means that ovulation will occur within 24-48 hours.

Generally, a strong positive result will last for 2 days, and when the result turns from strong positive to negative, it means that ovulation has occurred. There are instructions on the back of the test strip package, which should be read carefully before use.

The follicles develop and mature under the action of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Within 24 hours before PL, there will be a peak in LH, and it will definitely occur. Therefore, we use PL test paper to detect this peak. When the color of the second line of the test paper is close to, the same as, or exceeds the color of the first line, you know that PL is expected within 24 hours. It's very intuitive and clear, and there's plenty of time to prepare.

It should be noted that the appearance of two lines (i.e. positive) does not necessarily mean ovulation. There are also weak positive and strong positive. Only when a strong positive appears (i.e. the two lines are almost the same color or the test line is darker than the control line) does it indicate that ovulation will occur within 24-48 hours.

Therefore, when a strong positive appears, test twice or more per day. If the color starts to lighten, then the previous measurement was the peak.

The specific testing method is usually explained on the ovulation test paper packaging (you must strictly follow the instructions to minimize errors). Unlike early pregnancy test strips, morning urine cannot be used, and urine samples should be collected at the same time every day as much as possible. Water intake should be reduced 2 hours before collecting urine, because diluted urine samples will also hinder the detection of LH peak.

If your menstrual cycle is relatively regular, you should measure for six consecutive days, starting from 14 days before your period (which is the expected ovulation time), on the three days before and the three days after your period. If your menstrual cycle is irregular or abnormal, you should generally start measuring on the third day after your period ends. When the two lines on the test paper are the same depth or the second line is darker than the first, it means that ovulation will occur within 24 to 48 hours. For other test results, please refer to the diagram in the instruction manual.
