What are normal nipples?

For women, breasts are an important sexual characteristic and an important factor that can highlight a woman's figure. The nipple is also an important factor of the breast. It has a great influence on the image of the breast and women's breastfeeding. However, in real life, many women have abnormal nipples. If the nipples do not have the following abnormalities, then it means that the woman’s nipples are normal!

1. Flat nipples

Self-test: Flat nipples mean that although the diameter is within the standard range, it is not prominent enough, that is, the nipple length is short, about less than 0.5 cm.

Breastfeeding tips: suck more. For babies, flat nipples are less likely to be sucked deep into the mouth. However, as long as the baby is allowed to suck more, the chance of it turning into a normal nipple is very high, and the baby will be able to suck easily and smoothly.

2. Small nipples

Self-test: This means that the nipple diameter and length are both less than 0.5 cm.

Breastfeeding techniques: contain the areola and suck more. Just like flat nipples, it is more difficult for the baby to latch on and suck. However, as long as the baby latches on to the areola as well, he or she can still get milk. And as long as breastfeeding continues, the shape of the nipple will become easier to suck.

3. Huge nipples

Self-diagnosis: The nipple diameter is more than 2.5 cm.

Breastfeeding tips: suck more. When your baby first starts sucking, he or she may be confused and not know how to suck, but after some effort, he or she will get used to your large nipple. Even if a mother's nipples are much larger than average, as long as the mother and baby work together, breastfeeding can still be smooth and successful.

4. Inverted nipples

Self-diagnosis: The nipple is inverted and cannot protrude outside the areola.

Breastfeeding tips: early care. This type of nipple needs to be cared for early on. Finger stimulation or a nipple suction device can make the nipple protrude. Head nurse Liu Wenqi pointed out that for this type of inverted nipples, Hoffman exercises can be used to improve the inverted condition and make breastfeeding smoother. Once breastfeeding is on track, the nipples will automatically protrude as long as they receive the stimulation of the baby's sucking and no deliberate pulling is required. Therefore, expectant mothers with this type of nipples should never give up easily.
