Pregnant women with blurred vision

It is common knowledge that pregnant women's bodies undergo dramatic changes, but I believe many people do not know that some pregnant women actually experience symptoms of dizziness and blurred vision during pregnancy. The direct cause of blurred vision in pregnant women is actually the temporary insufficient blood supply to the brain, which causes dizziness and then triggers it. Upon closer examination, changes in hormone secretion in pregnant women, anemia, hypotension, and hypoglycemia may all be the cause.

1. Neuroendocrine changes after pregnancy can also cause dizziness

After pregnancy, the pregnant woman's autonomic nervous system becomes disordered and the motor nerves that regulate blood vessels become unstable. When the body position changes suddenly, she may experience dizziness due to transient cerebral ischemia.

2. Low blood pressure is also the cause of dizziness in pregnant women

The reasons for dizziness in early pregnancy include a slight drop in blood pressure, which gradually increases after the second trimester. In the later stages, as the uterus grows larger, it can easily compress the abdominal aorta, leading to orthostatic hypotension, which can also cause dizziness.

3. Anemia during pregnancy can cause dizziness

In order to adapt to the growth needs of the fetus after pregnancy, the blood volume of pregnant women increases, and the blood circulation volume can increase by 20% to 30%, including a 40% increase in plasma and an increase of about 20% in red blood cells. The blood is diluted accordingly to form physiological anemia, which makes pregnant women feel dizzy or dizzy when standing. What causes blurred vision during pregnancy?

4. Pregnant women may be prone to dizziness and vertigo, which may be a manifestation of low blood sugar

Dizziness and blurred vision are among the most common symptoms of hypoglycemia in pregnant women, and often occur in the afternoon and evening when the stomach is empty. In mild cases, the patient may feel dizzy, unsteady on his feet, or experience black spots in front of his eyes, blurred vision, or even fainting when he suddenly stands up or walks.

Due to the increase of progesterone in the blood of pregnant women during early pregnancy, pregnancy-related vomiting occurs. In addition, at this time, the body generally consumes too little food due to pregnancy reactions, and consumes a lot of energy, which is often accompanied by hypoglycemia, which can cause hypoglycemia symptoms such as dizziness and lightheadedness. This is especially likely to occur when standing up suddenly, standing for a long time, taking a bath, or being in a crowded crowd.

In the middle and late stages of pregnancy, after the placenta is formed, more placental lactogen and growth hormone are gradually secreted, reaching a peak after 30 weeks of pregnancy. These hormones can resist the insulin in the human body. In addition, the adrenal cortex hormones secreted by pregnant women can also resist insulin, resulting in a decrease in fasting blood sugar from 6.1 in the non-pregnant period to below 5.1. The renal tubular ability of the kidneys reabsorbs blood sugar decreased, and the excretion in the urine increased. These reasons can all lead to hypoglycemia and dizziness.
