What does it feel like to have a second baby?

Having a second child is something that many pregnant women have experienced. Due to the current open policies, many families want to have one more child. In fact, many pregnant women can react when the second baby enters the pelvis, after all, they have experienced it once. After the fetus enters the pelvis, the pregnant woman's body will feel obvious movements, such as a poking feeling, and then frequent urination will occur. At this time, relevant preparations must be made.

What does it feel like to have a baby in the pelvis?

So for expectant mothers, what does it feel like when the fetus enters the pelvis?

1. Feeling similar to dysmenorrhea. In fact, this is an obvious uterine contraction phenomenon. As the baby continues to move downward, the pain felt by the expectant mother will become more and more obvious. If you experience regular pain after the baby enters the pelvis, you need to go to the hospital immediately and prepare for delivery.

2. Frequent urination. After entering the pelvis, the uterus further compresses the bladder, making it difficult for the bladder to store urine normally, which will make the expectant mother feel the urge to urinate frequently and want to go to the toilet constantly. If you find blood in your urine or pain in your urine, be alert to urinary tract infection.

3. The shape of the belly changes. After the fetus enters the pelvis, the expectant mother's belly will also undergo some changes, such as looking more like a grapefruit, feeling hard, and the breasts will no longer touch the belly.

4. Breathing becomes easier and appetite improves. When the baby enters the pelvis, the fetal position moves downward, and the pressure of the uterus on the internal organs will be significantly reduced, especially the heart, lungs, stomach and other higher organs will gradually resume normal functions. The expectant mother will feel more relaxed, her breathing will be smoother, her appetite will improve, and she will eat more.

5. A feeling of heaviness and pain. Expectant mothers will feel a heaviness and pain in their lower body from time to time, as if something suddenly falls from their abdomen, their belly becomes tight, and there is a little pain in their private parts. The fetus seems to be gradually descending, and their belly will also move down.

How to judge whether the second baby is in the pelvis

For women who are pregnant for the first time, the baby will not arrive until 2-3 weeks after the fetus enters the pelvis. For expectant mothers who are pregnant with their second child, they will enter the delivery stage directly after the fetus enters the pelvis. Engaging the pelvis is only a signal that the baby is about to arrive, not a signal of delivery, and expectant mothers should respond calmly.

However, after the baby enters the pelvis, it will put some pressure on the cervix, which may cause uterine contractions. Expectant mothers need to shorten their daily activities appropriately. However, the uterine contractions at this time are mostly irregular and short, so there is no need to be too nervous.

Around 36 weeks of pregnancy, the baby's head will enter the mother's pelvis, that is, the biparietal diameter of the fetal head will enter the lower end of the mother's pelvic entrance and be symmetrical with the pelvis. This phenomenon is called "fetal engagement", which is a signal that the baby is ready to come and is also the first step in the normal delivery process.

According to statistics, 80-90% of first-time mothers will show signs of engagement at 37-38 weeks of pregnancy, that is, the baby's head successfully enters the mother's pelvic cavity.

The time of pelvic engagement can be early or late. For a small number of people, the pelvic engagement may occur before delivery, while for some people, signs of pelvic engagement appear as early as 33 or 34 weeks of pregnancy, and some people do not enter the pelvic engagement until just before delivery. For expectant mothers who are pregnant with their second child, most of the time, signs of the baby entering the pelvis will not appear until the eve of delivery.
