Menstruation is a very special period for women, and it has a great impact on women's lives. During menstruation, a large amount of blood clot tissue will be produced in the female uterus, which needs to be discharged from the vagina. At this time, the uterus is at the end of the endometrial growth cycle, so it is more difficult to get pregnant. But does this mean that women cannot get pregnant during their period? Let’s take a look at whether you can get pregnant during your period. Can I get pregnant during my period? Although the possibility of pregnancy during menstruation is very small, the menstruation period is not necessarily a safe period. If you have sex during the menstruation period, you may get pregnant. This low-probability event usually occurs when the menstrual cycle is very short. Because at this time, the time of ovulation is closer to the time of menstruation. In this case, if the menstrual period lasts longer, the ovulation period will be closer to the end of the menstrual period, and the possibility of pregnancy during the menstrual period will be higher. Pregnancy occurs when an egg and a sperm meet in the fallopian tube. In a typical 28-day menstrual cycle, an egg matures in one of the two ovaries, usually in the middle of the menstrual cycle, between days 12 and 16. The ovary releases the mature egg into the abdomen, which is called ovulation, where the egg is quickly sucked into the fallopian tube by the tulip-shaped opening at the nearest end of the fallopian tube. After the egg is released from the ovary, it can survive in the fallopian tube for about 24 hours, so pregnancy is only possible if the sperm appears in the fallopian tube during this lucky period. If the egg is not fertilized, menstruation will occur about 14 days after ovulation. Normally, when you have your period, another egg is developing and preparing to be released during this cycle. However, not all women's menstrual cycles are the same length. Many women have a menstrual cycle of about 28 days, while some have a cycle of only 22 days. If you have a short cycle, you may ovulate a few days after your period ends. Considering that sperm can survive in the fallopian tube for up to 3 days, it is theoretically possible for sperm to survive until ovulation, making it possible to conceive very soon after the menstrual period. It is also possible to mistake breakthrough bleeding (a small amount of bleeding between periods) for normal menstrual bleeding during ovulation, in which case you may be bleeding during conception. If you experience bleeding between periods, be sure to see a doctor. |
