Does pelvic inflammatory disease cause fever?

As long as pelvic inflammatory disease occurs in your body, it may cause symptoms of fever. This is very common. When this symptom occurs, the first reaction is to reduce the fever and lower the temperature. You cannot let your fever get higher and higher, as this will cause great damage to your brain nerves. Sometimes patients will also experience symptoms of nausea and vomiting.

The clinical manifestations may vary depending on the severity and extent of the inflammation. In mild cases, there are no symptoms or mild symptoms. Common symptoms include lower abdominal pain and increased vaginal discharge. The abdominal pain is persistent and worsens with activity or sexual intercourse. If the condition is serious, fever or even high fever, chills, headache and lack of appetite may occur. If the disease occurs during menstruation, there may be increased menstrual flow and prolonged menstrual period. If there is peritonitis, digestive system symptoms will appear, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal distension, diarrhea, etc.

Urinary tract infection may cause symptoms such as urgency, frequency and pain when urinating. If an abscess is formed, there may be a lower abdominal mass and local compression and irritation symptoms; if the mass is located in front of the uterus, bladder irritation symptoms may occur, such as difficulty urinating and frequent urination. If it causes cystomyositis, there may also be urinary pain. If the mass is located behind the uterus, there may be rectal irritation symptoms. If it is outside the peritoneum, it may cause diarrhea, tenesmus and difficulty defecation. If there are symptoms and signs of salpingitis and right upper abdominal pain at the same time, perihepatitis should be suspected. The physical signs of patients vary greatly. In mild cases, there are no obvious abnormalities, or gynecological examination may only reveal cervical motion tenderness, uterine body tenderness, or adnexal tenderness.

Severe cases present with acute illness, fever, accelerated heart rate, tenderness, rebound pain and muscle tension in the lower abdomen, and even abdominal distension, and weakened or disappeared bowel sounds. Pelvic examination: Purulent and smelly secretions can be seen in the vagina; the cervix is congested and edematous. Wipe off the secretions on the surface of the cervix. If purulent secretions are seen flowing out of the cervical opening, it indicates that there is acute inflammation in the cervical canal mucosa or uterine cavity. The vault is obviously tender, and you must pay attention to whether it is full; the cervix is painful when you lift it; the uterus is slightly enlarged, tender, and limited in movement; there is obvious tenderness on both sides of the uterus. If it is simple salpingitis, you can touch the thickened fallopian tubes, and the tenderness is obvious

If it is pyosalpinx or ovarian ovary abscess, a mass can be felt with obvious tenderness and no movement; in case of parametrial connective tissue inflammation, flake-like thickening can be felt on one or both sides of the parametrium, or the uterosacral ligaments on both sides are highly edematous, thickened, and painful; if a pelvic abscess is formed and is located lower, a mass with a sense of fluctuation can be felt in the posterior fornix or lateral fornix. The triple examination can often help to further understand the pelvic condition.
