What tests do I need to do if I can’t get pregnant?

For couples, one of the most important things after marriage is having children. For most couples, it is relatively easy to have children and they can get pregnant easily. However, there are some couples who cannot get pregnant no matter what method they use. At this time, they should go to the hospital for a check-up to see where the problem lies and receive treatment accordingly. So, what tests should be done if you cannot get pregnant?

1. Check the patency of the fallopian tubes: Female infertility should first check the patency of the fallopian tubes, including fallopian tube ventilation or fluid permeation examination and hysterosalpingography, mainly to understand whether the fallopian tubes are patency, whether the development of the uterus and fallopian tubes is normal, and whether there are any deformities. It also has a therapeutic effect on those with poor fallopian tube patency, such as mild adhesion.

2. Endometrial examination: When necessary, a biopsy can be performed to understand the functional status of the endometrium. In addition, a menstrual examination is a reliable method to understand whether ovulation has occurred or the functional status of the corpus luteum. At the same time, it can also understand the size of the uterine cavity and rule out uterine cavity lesions, such as tuberculosis, uterine fibroids, etc.

3. Speculate whether ovulation occurs and predict the ovulation period: This can be determined by measuring basal body temperature, examining cervical mucus or measuring hormones.

4. Immunological examination: To understand the presence of anti-sperm antibodies, in addition to anti-sperm antibody testing, it can also be indirectly understood through post-coital tests, in vitro sperm penetration tests, etc.

5. Endocrine function measurement: For example, measuring serum estrogen and progesterone levels at different times of the menstrual cycle to understand the ovarian function. Measure basal metabolic rate to understand thyroid function. Adrenal function tests and serum prolactin measurements were performed.
