Is a tight belly a sign of uterine contractions?

In fact, when a pregnant woman has false labor, she will only feel her uterus contracting. Some pregnant women cannot really feel the pain in their stomach, but when they touch their belly with their hands, they will find that their belly is particularly hard. This is because when false labor occurs, the uterus will autonomously protect the fetus in the belly. So is a tight belly the cause of labor?

Is a hard stomach caused by uterine contractions?

A hard abdomen is likely a false labor. False labor during pregnancy is a normal physiological phenomenon. Generally, pregnant women will experience uterine contractions after 16 weeks, but it depends on the sensitivity of the person. In fact, if a pregnant woman stands or sits in the same posture for a long time, it may cause uterine contraction and abdominal pain, and feel a hard lower abdomen (that is, symptoms of tight stomach). This is "false labor", so if the mother feels that her stomach is hard and tight, then it is very likely false labor.

False labor, also called prolonged labor, is an occasional uterine contraction. Its characteristics are that the time of occurrence is irregular and the degree varies from time to time. False labor begins around 6 weeks of pregnancy, but you won't feel it until the second half of pregnancy. A gynecologist at Peking Union Medical College Hospital said that frequently touching the belly in the late pregnancy can cause false labor and lead to premature birth.

The symptoms of false labor are irregular uterine contractions that occur for several hours without any obvious pattern. There was no progression, no increase in intensity, duration, or frequency. Most of them appear in the front, below the abdomen. It ranges from painless to mild discomfort, more like pressure than pain. The reaction may be less severe if you change your position, walk around, lie down, or take a hot bath or shower. The uterus feels like a hard ball.
