Are contractions stomach pains?

When pregnant women have uterine contractions, they can clearly feel their uterus contracting and feel stomach pain. This phenomenon is very real. Whether it is false or true uterine contractions, there is this real feeling. Moreover, during real uterine contractions, pregnant women may have their amniotic fluid broken due to company reasons, and the cervix may open wider and wider. So does uterine contraction mean stomach pain?

How to distinguish true and false uterine contractions

1. Check whether uterine contractions are accompanied by progress of labor

If it is a true uterine contraction, it will occur a few hours after the contraction occurs and along with the progress of labor, as time goes by, the contraction will become more frequent and stronger, the cervix will open, and the fetal presenting part will descend. Otherwise it is false labor.

2. See if the expectant mother can get enough rest

Generally speaking, if it is a false labor, the mother can still get enough rest when the labor comes, but if it is a labor, she will not be able to rest well due to the pain and discomfort of the labor. Usually, if you still have difficulty falling asleep despite using strong sedatives, it may be true labor.

3. Consult a doctor if you are unsure

If you don't feel any contractions normally, but suddenly feel 4-6 contractions in an hour, and find it difficult to determine whether they are true or false, you should go to the hospital and let the doctor make a judgment. Usually, there are 4 contractions during labor in 20 minutes, accompanied by the opening of the cervix and the descent of the presenting part, which can be judged as labor. In addition, true uterine contractions during labor are usually accompanied by symptoms such as "spotting blood" and increased vaginal discharge.

Will false labor hurt?

Whether it is true labor or false labor, there will be abdominal pain when the labor comes, but false labor will cause lower abdominal pain, which usually lasts only a few seconds, with intervals of up to several hours, without a feeling of falling, and the symptoms can be relieved during the day.

However, if the number of contractions is around 10 per hour, you should go to the hospital in time and have the doctor identify the nature of the contractions to prevent premature birth. If uterine contractions are accompanied by severe abdominal pain, such as pain that makes you restless and your work and life are affected, you should go to the hospital immediately.

When contractions come, be sure not to take random medicine to relieve the pain, because there are many things to pay attention to when taking medicine during pregnancy. Taking random medicine can easily cause damage to the fetus. If contractions occur, the best way is to go to the hospital to consult a doctor and ask the doctor to prescribe medicine.
