What causes low position of placenta?

Reason 1: The fertilized egg is slow to develop before implantation. Low-lying placenta is caused by the fertilized egg being slow to develop before implantation. When it reaches the uterine cavity, it has not yet developed to the stage where it can implant, but continues to move downward and implants in the lower part of the uterus, where it grows and develops, causing the placenta to be lower than normal.

Reason 2: Endometrial lesions Endometrial lesions such as multiple births, multiple curettages, and cesarean sections can cause incomplete vascularization of the uterine decidua. When the sperm and egg are implanted, the blood supply is insufficient. In order to meet the needs of fetal growth, the fetus must absorb enough nutrients from the mother, thereby expanding the placental area. If the placental area is too large, it can extend to the lower part of the uterus and form a low placenta. The endometrium is not sound. Postpartum infection, multiple births, IUD insertion, multiple curettages, cesarean sections and other surgeries can cause endometritis, endometrial defects, and insufficient blood supply. In order to absorb enough nutrients, the placenta expands its area compensatorily and extends to the lower part of the uterus.

Reason 3: The placenta is too large. For example, most gestational discs often extend to the lower part of the uterus, forming a low placenta.

Reason 4: Too many births. The number of pregnancies a woman has will also affect the phenomenon of low-lying placenta. Some women may suffer miscarriage during pregnancy due to certain reasons. Every miscarriage is also a trauma to a woman's body. It is especially harmful to women's uterus. This is also the cause of low-lying placenta.

Reason 5: There are certain reasons why pregnant women with diseases such as uterine fibroids may have a low-lying placenta. When women reach a certain age, the possibility of developing gynecological diseases increases. Gynecological diseases in women generally involve problems with the uterus. When there is a certain degree of inflammation or fibroids in the uterus, it will cause symptoms of low placenta during pregnancy. This is also one of the causes of low-lying placenta.

Consequences of a low-lying placenta

As long as the expectant mother's pregnancy is before 28 weeks, if the placenta is found to be low after examination, there is no need to worry too much, because the position of the placenta may move up as the pregnancy progresses. If the placenta is low, strenuous exercise or lack of rest can easily cause heavy bleeding before delivery. Therefore, you should not squat, as squatting will cause the cervix to dilate and cause bleeding. You should always observe the baby. If repeated bleeding or heavy bleeding occurs, you should seek medical attention in time.

Can I have a normal birth if the placenta is located too low?

If the placenta is found to be low when the expectant mother is 20 weeks pregnant, if the uterus is stretched and the placenta moves up in the later stages of pregnancy, a natural birth can be given. If it does not move up, it is a case of placenta previa, and the possibility of a natural birth is smaller. If a natural birth is not possible in the middle, a natural birth can be given if it is at the edge. This depends on the actual situation. Only under the doctor's advice can you choose natural delivery to avoid heavy bleeding after delivery. Therefore, you should choose the method of delivery under the guidance of a doctor.
