What are the causes of menopause in girls?

Amenorrhea refers to the phenomenon that there has never been menstruation or menstruation comes and stops. Many people over the age of 18 have not yet had menstruation, but when menstruation comes, it stops for six months to three cycles. This is amenorrhea. There are many factors that cause amenorrhea, and it is not necessarily caused by menopause. If it only occurs in women who have not reached the age of 45, it is a manifestation of irregular menstruation.

Amenorrhea refers to the absence of menstruation or the cessation of menstrual cycles after they have been established. Those who have not had their periods for more than 18 years are called primary amenorrhea, and those who have had their periods but have stopped for 6 months or 3 cycles are called secondary amenorrhea.

There are two causes of amenorrhea: functional and organic. Functional menopause is caused by dysfunction of the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian axis; organic factors include genital dysplasia, tumors, trauma, chronic wasting diseases, etc. The main reason for menopause in most women is functional menopause. There are many and complex reasons for amenorrhea.

1. Mental stress: Female menopause caused by psychological factors is most likely to be ignored. Women's menstruation is closely related to the nervous system and endocrine system. The fiercely competitive environment and complex interpersonal relationships put the brain's nervous system in a state of high tension. Mental tension and emotional fluctuations affect the function of the nervous system, leading to amenorrhea.

2. Excessive dieting to lose weight: There are feeding centers and satiety centers in the hypothalamus of the brain. When anorexia or the subjective and compulsive demand to reduce food intake occurs, the cerebral cortex will be forcibly inhibited. Over time, the two appetite centers of the hypothalamus will become dysfunctional, causing weight loss. At the same time, it further affects the luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone in the hypothalamus, causing its secretion to decrease, and then the pituitary gland secretes luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone, thus causing amenorrhea.

Losing weight and controlling weight often cause "anorexia nervosa". Once anorexia nervosa occurs, weight loss occurs rapidly, and the body's metabolism slows down and becomes low. It will be very difficult to restore weight and menstruation. Because at this time you have lost your appetite and have no interest in any food. Even if you force yourself to increase your food intake, you will feel bloating and discomfort in your stomach due to slower stomach emptying.

3. Abortion: Curettage and dilation surgery damages the basement membrane of the cervix or endometrium, causing adhesion of the internal os of the cervix or partial adhesion of the uterine wall, leading to amenorrhea. At this time, menstrual blood cannot flow out and is retained in the uterine cavity, causing periodic lower abdominal pain. Clinically, this condition is called secondary amenorrhea.

4. Environmental factors: It is a temporary endocrine dysfunction and menstruation will generally resume naturally within 6 months.

5. Pituitary amenorrhea: In addition to amenorrhea, there are other symptoms, such as Sheehan's syndrome caused by postpartum hemorrhage, which is accompanied by pubic hair loss, vulva atrophy, etc. In addition to amenorrhea, those caused by pituitary prolactinoma are also accompanied by breast milk discharge, etc.

6. Ovarian amenorrhea: This type of amenorrhea is very common, such as demenopause, ovarian cysts, ovarian tumors, polycystic ovary syndrome, premature ovarian failure, and endocrine dysfunction caused by various reasons that lead to ovarian anovulation.
