Treatment should be to promote blood circulation, remove blood stasis, regulate Qi and relieve pain.

Dark menstruation is caused by deficiency of Qi and blood: early or late menstrual cycle, increased or decreased menstrual volume, prolonged menstruation, light color, thin menstruation, or pain in the lower abdomen, or dizziness, or fatigue, pale or sallow complexion, poor appetite and watery stools. The tongue is light red, the pulse is deep and thready, and the treatment should be to invigorate qi and nourish blood.

Kidney deficiency causes black menstruation: irregular menstrual cycle, small amount of blood, light red or dark red color, thin texture, sore waist and weak legs, heel pain, tinnitus and dizziness, or cold lower abdomen, or frequent urination at night, pale tongue, weak or slow pulse. Treatment should be to tonify the kidney, strengthen yang and regulate menstruation.

During menstruation, you should supplement nutrition, eat more foods rich in protein, vitamins, cellulose, carbohydrates and other nutrients, and you need to replenish blood and qi during menstruation. You can choose to eat some donkey-hide gelatin cake. At the same time, women with menstrual pain problems can drink some brown sugar ginger water, eat some fruits, apples, bananas, etc. It is best to eat foods that can help the gastrointestinal digestion. And you can eat more beans, eat nutritious breakfast, eat some eggs, porridge with whole grains, and never eat spicy food.
