Leucorrhea is dark brown

Leucorrhea is a normal physiological phenomenon for women, and it is also very easy to have abnormalities. The most typical abnormality is that the color of leucorrhea is different from usual. I believe many women have encountered the situation where their leucorrhea is dark brown. When this happens, it is necessary to find out the cause as soon as possible and solve the problem accordingly so that normal leucorrhea can be restored. So, why is the leucorrhea dark brown? Let’s take a look below.

Under normal circumstances, leucorrhea is a mixture of vaginal mucosal exudates, cervical canal and endometrial gland secretions in women. It is related to the action of estrogen and changes with the menstrual cycle and is secreted from the vagina. Under normal circumstances, leucorrhea should be transparent and shiny, white, paste-like or egg white-like, with viscosity, small amount, and no fishy smell. It has no adverse effects on women's health and is called physiological leucorrhea. Compared with physiological leucorrhea, the characteristics of pathological leucorrhea are very different in terms of color, nature, odor, etc. Pathological leucorrhea can be divided into non-inflammatory leucorrhea, inflammatory leucorrhea, leucorrhea caused by foreign body irritation, and other vaginal discharge.

Causes

1. Excessive use of cleaning solution: If women frequently flush the vagina, especially with cleaning solution, the number of lactobacilli will decrease, which will destroy the microecological balance in the vagina and cause dysbacteriosis. Because the female vagina has a self-cleaning function, the female vaginal epithelial cells are rich in glycogen. The vagina of normal women is parasitic with a kind of bacteria called vaginal lactobacillus, which can break down these glycogen into monosaccharides and then into lactic acid, making the vaginal environment acidic and maintaining the pH value at 4-5. Those pathogens that grow well in alkaline environments will be inhibited, which is the self-cleaning function of the vagina.

2. Long-term use of sanitary pads: Long-term use of sanitary pads, which are not breathable, often keeps the vulva in a moist state due to excessive vaginal discharge, which has a certain irritation to the local skin. It destroys the balance of the vagina and easily causes infection.

3. Not paying attention to hygiene and not changing underwear frequently: Women should change their underwear once a day, pay attention to personal hygiene, and it is best to put the changed underwear in the sun to dry.
