The reason why the gestational sac cannot be seen during pregnancy

I believe that mothers who have been pregnant know or women who have mastered the knowledge of pregnancy know that the gestational sac can be seen during B-ultrasound examination at the hospital in the early stages of pregnancy. The growth and development of the fetus and the gender can be understood according to the size and shape of the gestational sac. However, some pregnant mothers find that they are pregnant but cannot see the gestational sac. Let us look at the reasons why the gestational sac cannot be seen during pregnancy.

Reasons why the fetal sac cannot be seen during pregnancy

Whether the gestational sac can be seen during pregnancy is related to the duration of pregnancy. If the pregnancy duration is short and the test paper or blood test shows pregnancy, the gestational sac cannot be seen by B-ultrasound, or the gestational sac may be too small. If the pregnancy lasts for a long time and the gestational sac cannot be seen in the uterine cavity, but the gestational sac or the echo of the gestational sac can be seen in other areas, it is likely to be an ectopic pregnancy. The gestational sac is only seen in early pregnancy. For women with standard menstruation of 28-30 days, the gestational sac can be seen in the uterine cavity by B-ultrasound after 35 days of amenorrhea.

The diameter of the gestational sac is 2 cm at 6 weeks of pregnancy and about 5 cm at 10 weeks of pregnancy. It is normal for the gestational sac to be located at the fundus, front wall, back wall, top, or center of the uterus; it is normal for the shape to be circular, oval, and clear; if the gestational sac is irregular in shape, unclear, and located at the bottom, and the pregnant woman also has abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding, she may have a miscarriage. Generally speaking, the location of the gestational sac is not easy to change after a woman becomes pregnant. After the early gestational sac embryo is implanted and fixed, it is like the roots of a tree. It is not easy to change.

The gestational sac then slowly expands and disintegrates until the pregnant woman gives birth. I believe that after reading this article, all pregnant friends can clearly understand why the gestational sac cannot be seen after pregnancy. Everyone should understand this relevant knowledge. If you still can't see the fetal sac, you should go to the hospital immediately to rule out ectopic pregnancy. Don't take any action on your own.

How many weeks of pregnancy can you see the fetal sac?

In the very beginning of pregnancy, the gestational sac is not easy to see, so it cannot be seen during the initial prenatal check-up.

Generally, the gestational sac can be seen at 40 days of pregnancy, and at about 6 weeks. The calculation starts based on the expected date of delivery. The fetal sac is very small at first, and then gradually grows bigger. Under normal circumstances, after 5 weeks of pregnancy, a small gestational sac can be seen on B-ultrasound, which occupies less than 1/4 of the uterine cavity, or the fetal bud and fetal heartbeat can be seen from it. If it is a normal intrauterine pregnancy, the gestational sac can be seen in the uterus through B-ultrasound around 40 days of pregnancy. However, due to individual differences and the early or late pregnancy time, some pregnant women may not be able to see it until around 45 days.

Generally, when HCG reaches 1000U/L, vaginal ultrasound should be able to identify the intrauterine gestational sac, which is around the 4th or 5th day of the 5th week of pregnancy. When HCG reaches 6500U/L, abdominal ultrasound can identify the intrauterine gestational sac. Therefore, vaginal ultrasound will be more accurate. If the normal menstrual cycle is reached and the intrauterine gestational sac is not seen on the 49th day of pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy should be suspected.
