How long does it take to do a fallopian tube scan?

Hysterosalpingography is a comparative examination and a commonly used method for fallopian tube examination. This method must be performed during the non-menstrual period, and the ovulation period of women should be avoided as much as possible during the examination. Only in this way can more accurate examination data be obtained. However, the examination will also cause harm to women's bodies because X-rays are more irritating. So how long does it take to do hysterosalpingography?

1. Time for hysterosalpingography

Whether it is traditional angiography or 4D painless hysterosalpingography, it is performed within 3 to 7 days after the menstruation is over. If the examination is performed too early, the endometrium has not yet been fully repaired, which can easily cause infection, endometriosis, etc. If it is performed too late, the endometrium is too thick, which can easily cause pseudo-obstruction of the internal opening of the fallopian tube or catheter-type instruments can scratch the endometrium, which can easily cause bleeding during and after the operation.

2. The process of salpingography

1. Before undergoing hysterosalpingography, women must be clear about the best time to do the examination. Under normal circumstances, it should be within one week after the menstruation is over. Sexual intercourse is prohibited in the few days before the operation to prevent infection, which will also interfere with the accuracy of the examination.

2. After undergoing some surgeries, such as abortion, childbirth, medical abortion, etc., it is recommended that women should not undergo hysterosalpingography within six weeks. If the time is too early, it will easily cause infection due to the incomplete repair of the endometrium. If it is too late, it will cause the endometrium to thicken and it will be difficult to enter the examination.

3. Before doing the hysterosalpingography, the doctor will test the patient's body to check whether the patient is allergic to the contrast agent, whether the patient has other medical history, tolerance for hysterosalpingography, etc. After half an hour, the doctor will observe the patient for any redness or swelling.

4. Women should undergo a routine gynecological examination and common leucorrhea examination a few days before undergoing hysterosalpingography to avoid genital inflammation, which may affect the results of hysterosalpingography and cause genital infection.
