Yellowish vaginal discharge

Yellowish vaginal discharge

Everyone knows that normal vaginal discharge is white or transparent. Only when the body is sick will the vaginal discharge be abnormal and accompanied by some unpleasant smells. When the vaginal discharge secretes light yellow discharge, it may be a manifestation before the menstrual period, but it may also be caused by some gynecological diseases. So what should I do if there is light yellow discharge in the vagina?

Whether the leucorrhea is normal should be observed in terms of quantity, color, texture and smell.

Normal leucorrhea should be milky white or colorless and transparent, with a slightly fishy smell or no smell. The amount and texture of leucorrhea are affected by the levels of estrogen and progesterone in the body, and vary periodically with the menstrual cycle, with varying amounts, textures and thicknesses.

Generally, the amount of leucorrhea is less after the menstrual period; before ovulation, the increase in estrogen levels in the body promotes the proliferation of epithelial cells of the cervical glands, the secretion of cervical mucus increases, and the sodium chloride content in the mucus increases, which can absorb more water, causing the leucorrhea to increase during ovulation, and the texture is thin, clear, and looks like egg white, which can be stretched into long threads; after ovulation, estrogen levels gradually decrease, progesterone levels increase, the secretion of cervical mucus is inhibited, and the sodium chloride content in the mucus also decreases, making the leucorrhea at this time thick, milky white, with poor ductility, and easy to break when drawn.

In addition, there are also some physiological phenomena such as pregnancy and oral contraceptives, which can cause an increase in vaginal discharge. The cause is also related to changes in estrogen and progesterone levels in the body. If your vaginal discharge increases for no apparent reason, or is accompanied by changes in color, texture, or odor, you should be alert. Common citations

The causes of increased vaginal discharge include:

① In case of candidal vaginitis, the leucorrhea is yellow or white, mostly viscous, sometimes thin, and typically in the form of tofu dregs or curds;

② The leucorrhea of Trichomonas vaginitis is thin pus-like, yellow, and foamy, or like rice water, grayish white, and smelly;

③When the cervix is eroded, the leucorrhea is usually yellow, sticky like pus, and odorless;

④ The leucorrhea of gonorrhea is yellow pus-like;

When suffering from pelvic inflammatory diseases such as endometritis, leucorrhea will increase, be yellow in color, thin in texture, and often accompanied by abdominal pain;

When suffering from fallopian tube cancer, watery leucorrhea will appear continuously because the tumor stimulates the fallopian tube epithelium to exude fluid and the diseased tissue to necrotize.

If the amount of leucorrhea in women of childbearing age is reduced to a level that cannot meet people's physiological needs, causing the patients to often feel dryness and discomfort in the vulva, it is a pathological condition, often caused by ovarian dysfunction and decreased secretion of sex hormones. Postmenopausal women often feel dry vulva and no vaginal discharge. This is a normal phenomenon caused by ovarian atrophy and a significant decrease in sex hormone secretion.

Furthermore, changes in the color of vaginal discharge should also be noted. Generally, the leucorrhea caused by inflammation is mostly yellow; red discharge refers to the leucorrhea containing blood or light pink, which may occur in diseases such as cervicitis, vaginitis, bleeding during intercourse or cervical cancer. It is recommended to go to a regular hospital and do a routine examination of leucorrhea. Don't be afraid or shy. There is nothing to be embarrassed about. Check if there is any vaginal inflammation. If so, find out which type of vaginitis is causing it. Do not rush to seek medical treatment or take antibiotics indiscriminately, as that will only make the inflammation worse. Also, do not use some wash solutions indiscriminately before the diagnosis is confirmed. Then follow the doctor's advice for treatment, and you will get better soon. Don't worry too much, every woman will have more or less gynecological diseases.
