Symptoms of retained membranes after cesarean section

Symptoms of retained membranes after cesarean section

In fact, cesarean section is not a completely safe way of delivery. Not only will it leave many sequelae to the female body, but there are also risks during the operation. Some women who choose cesarean section will have residual fetal membranes after giving birth. This is very harmful to the female uterus and can cause uterine infection and other complications. Today, I will introduce to female friends the symptoms of residual fetal membranes after cesarean section.

If the uterus is not fully restored after delivery and the lochia has a foul odor, it may be an infection in the uterine cavity, and the mother will often have a fever. If the placenta remains in the uterine cavity, it can cause massive bleeding and lead to shock, requiring blood transfusion and emergency treatment. Therefore, when a woman has persistent bloody lochia, she should ask a doctor to examine her carefully. B-ultrasound was used to determine whether there was any residue in the uterine cavity.

When it is determined that there are residues in the uterus, the residual tissue should be removed by cleaning the uterus while fighting the infection. Uterine contractions may be injected before and after surgery to reduce bleeding. When some residual placental tissue forms polyps in the uterine cavity and causes persistent vaginal bleeding, surgical removal of the polyps should be performed.

All mothers should pay close attention to their physical condition after delivery. If there is anything wrong, please communicate with the doctor in time to prevent the condition from worsening.

Things to note after caesarean section

How to take care of yourself after a caesarean section

How to take care of yourself after a caesarean section? During the confinement period, you must drink plenty of water in time, pay attention to wound care, and carefully observe the lochia. During the confinement period, mothers should not wear tight clothes to show their figure. They can do moderate exercise to help wound healing.

1. Drink plenty of water. Women who have undergone caesarean section should drink plenty of water during the confinement period. This is not only preventive but also beneficial.

2. Take care of the wound. Try not to make any big movements after delivery. When coughing or laughing, you can support the wound with your hands or use a pillow to support your abdomen, which will help relieve pain. Take good care of your wound to prevent infection. If there are signs of redness, swelling or even fever in the wound, you should see a doctor immediately.

3. Observe the lochia carefully. The vaginal secretions of postpartum women increase greatly, but as the body gradually recovers, the amount of lochia will decrease, and the color of lochia should gradually change from bright red to pink, and finally to yellow-white. Careful inspection of lochia is a must for women who have undergone cesarean section. If any abnormality is found in the lochia, they should seek medical attention immediately.

4. Wear loose clothing. New mothers should choose a size larger lace-up or boxer briefs.

5. You can do moderate exercise. 6-8 weeks after surgery, you can start doing some moderate exercise, but you must get the doctor's approval before doing so. It may take several months to a year for a woman who has undergone a caesarean section to fully recover to her pre-pregnancy level, depending on her individual circumstances.
