What happens if HPV44 is positive and not treated?

Some viral diseases can cause serious consequences if not treated promptly. However, there are some diseases that can be cured on their own. It needs to be judged based on the severity of the virus, and HPV44 positivity is a special virus and should be treated based on the patient's condition. Some patients have strong bodies that can resist viral invasion. What will happen if HPV44 is positive and not treated?

Several types of HPV virus

1. Low-risk HPV

Low-risk HPV can cause genital eczema or very subtle cervical cell changes. There are 12 types of low-risk HPV, including HPV6, 11, 40, 42, 43, 44, 53, 54, 61, 72, 73 and 81. These HPV types do not cause cervical cancer.

2. High-risk HPV

High-risk HPV can cause cervical cell changes. If the cervical cell changes are not treated in time, the HPV infection will continue to invade the cervical mucosa of women, eventually causing the cervix to develop into cervical cancer. There are 13 most common types of high-risk HPV (see the figure below), especially HPV16 and HPV18. Continuous high-risk HPV infection is a necessary condition for cervical cancer, so you need to pay attention at all times!

Symptoms of HPV infection

1. Low-risk HPV infection can manifest as common warts on the skin, periungual warts around the nails and toenails, plantar warts on the soles of the feet, filiform warts on the neck and eyelids, flat warts on the face, etc. The main external genitalia are condyloma acuminatum, which are papilloma-like, cauliflower-like, granular, cockscomb-like, etc. in shape. There may be genital itching, increased leucorrhea, and even bloody leucorrhea, and pain or even bleeding during sexual intercourse.

2. High-risk HPV infection mainly causes cervical precancerous lesions and cervical cancer. Generally, there are no obvious symptoms in the early stages of the lesions, but changes in the characteristics of leucorrhea may occur, which are mostly discovered during cervical cytology and colposcopy. After the lesion develops, contact bleeding (such as vaginal bleeding after sexual intercourse or after gynecological examination), vaginal bleeding, and vaginal discharge may occur. In the late stage, symptoms such as pain, swelling of the lower limbs, and anuria may occur.
