Can pregnant women eat porridge?

Rice porridge is a food that we often eat in our daily life. Most people usually eat rice porridge.

The time is basically in the morning or evening, and porridge is easy to digest, especially for people with bad stomach. If you eat porridge regularly, it can nourish the stomach and is good for the stomach. You can also drink porridge during the confinement period, but because the nutritional value of porridge is not particularly good, it is best to drink more whole-grain porridge.

You can eat porridge during the confinement period. During the confinement period, you should eat soft and easily digestible soups, which are also helpful for milk production. Porridge is an indispensable food for breakfast in the south. Most people mistakenly call it porridge. In fact, rice porridge and porridge are not the same thing at all. There are many varieties of porridge, such as century egg and lean meat porridge. Rice porridge is a slightly more viscous substance that is thinner than porridge. In simple terms, it is thinner than porridge. It is very simple to make porridge. It does not take as long to make as congee and the ingredients are not as rich. However, eating more porridge for breakfast can cleanse the stomach and intestines, which is still good for the body.

Five kinds of food you must not eat during confinement

Don't eat too much hard, raw or cold food

Hard or cold food can easily damage the spleen and stomach and affect digestion. Moreover, cold food can easily cause blood stasis, which can cause abdominal pain in new mothers and postpartum lochia. At the same time, it will directly affect the health of the baby receiving breast milk. However, there is no big taboo for new mothers when it comes to eating fruits. It does not mean that they cannot eat cold fruits. Eating fruits can also help mothers recover after childbirth.

Don’t eat too much greasy food

During the confinement period, the new mother's diet should include a combination of meat and vegetables, but the diet should still be light. Especially within one week after delivery, you should mainly eat rice porridge, soft rice, egg soup, vegetables, etc., and avoid eating too greasy food such as chicken, pig's trotters, etc. Eating too much greasy food will cause diarrhea in babies and reduce their digestive function. In addition, since new mothers have weak gastrointestinal bloating and peristalsis after delivery, they should eat less greasy food such as fatty meat and fried food to avoid indigestion. Eating more does not provide nutrition to new mothers, but instead increases the burden on their stomach and intestines.

Don’t eat too much spicy and hot food

New mothers lose a lot of blood and sweat a lot after giving birth, and spicy and hot foods will damage body fluids. Therefore, they should avoid eating spicy and hot foods, otherwise they will get angry, mouth ulcers, constipation or hemorrhoids, and the baby's internal heat will be aggravated through breast milk. Therefore, new mothers should avoid eating leeks, onions, garlic, chili peppers, pepper, cumin, wine, etc.

Don't eat too much brown sugar

Because brown sugar is rich in nutrients, can release energy, has a high nutrient absorption rate, and has a warming and tonic property. After giving birth, many new mothers suffer from severe loss of vitality and weak constitution. Eating some brown sugar properly can replenish qi and blood, strengthen the spleen and warm the stomach, dispel wind and cold, and promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. However, be careful not to eat too much. Drinking too much brown sugar water for a long time will not only damage the new mother's teeth, but brown sugar is warm in nature. If the new mother drinks too much brown sugar water in summer, it will definitely accelerate sweating, make the body weaker, and even cause heatstroke. In addition, it is not advisable to drink brown sugar right after opening the package. It should be boiled in water before drinking.

You must not eat the hen immediately

Old hens are rich in nutrients, and many new mothers choose to eat hens to supplement their nutrition after giving birth. It is best for new mothers not to eat old hens immediately after giving birth, because it will increase the estrogen content in the mother's blood, inhibit the effectiveness of prolactin, and make it unable to work, thus causing insufficient milk for the new mother, or even milk dryness.
