Since women ovulate once a month, abdominal pain also tends to occur cyclically once a month, but the pain often alternates between the left and right lower abdomen because the left and right ovaries alternately ovulate during ovulation.

Abdominal pain after ovulation is more common in young women. Most women do not feel any obvious pain when ovulating, but a few will feel abdominal pain.
