Oil clogs the pores, and Propionibacterium acnes multiplies in large numbers under hypoxic conditions, leading to the invasion of inflammatory bacteria, turning into pustules and nodules, and the entire hair follicles becoming red and inflamed. The bacteria spread to the nearby skin tissue and become larger, thus forming acne. Therefore, women are more likely to get acne repeatedly during their menstrual period.
