What to do if the fetus is lying prone during 4D color Doppler ultrasound

One of the more important tests in a fetal examination should be the four-dimensional color ultrasound examination between 24 and 28 weeks of pregnancy. It is an overall screening for fetal malformations. It can observe the facial growth, bone growth, and internal organ growth of the fetus. And because the examination takes a long time, most hospitals require reservations more than one month in advance. So what should I do if the fetus is lying down during the four-dimensional color ultrasound? Let me give you a brief introduction below.

When doing a four-dimensional B-ultrasound, if the fetus is lying down, it will definitely affect the examination results, because it is necessary to observe whether the child's facial development is normal. One of the most important items is to see whether the child has cleft lip and palate, which can only be observed when the child is face up. If the child is lying down, the doctor will usually let the expectant mother come out and walk around for a while, and then go home for a follow-up visit after a while.

At this time, you can go to the hospital and take a short walk, but it should be noted that it is best not to climb stairs, because the abdomen has become relatively large at this time, and excessive exercise can easily cause uterine contractions and lead to premature birth. It is possible that the child was sleeping before, and when the baby's fetal movement is felt and the child wakes up, he may change his posture. Or you can eat some chocolate or other foods with high sugar content, and the children will move more. But if the child is still lying down during the follow-up visit, then we can only wait until a few days later to check again. This test is very important. Nowadays, the chance of fetuses having cleft lip and palate is increasing, and definite results must be observed.

Therefore, when doing four-dimensional color ultrasound, the baby must be facing up. The most important thing is to observe whether there are any abnormalities on the baby's face, such as whether the upper lip line is continuous, whether there is cleft lip and palate, and the condition of cleft lip and palate. If the child is lying and cannot be seen, you can take him out for a walk or eat something high in sugar to let the child move around, and then go home for examination again. If the second check-up shows the same condition, you will need to come back for another check-up in a few days.
