Side effects of women wearing rings

Side effects of women wearing rings

The IUD can effectively prevent women from getting pregnant, but at the same time it can cause great harm to their physical health, and these harms are long-term. It mainly includes causing uterine bleeding, lower abdominal pain, damage to other organs, etc. If it is not placed properly, unexpected pregnancy may occur, so female friends need to have a certain understanding of this.

Side effects of IUD placement

1. Cause uterine bleeding

If the uterus is scratched during IUD insertion, uterine bleeding may occur. A small amount of bleeding will occur in the short term, but generally no treatment is required and the bleeding will stop within a few days. In a small number of women, after the placement of an IUD, the endometrium undergoes tissue changes, resulting in local coagulation dysfunction in the endometrium, which usually manifests as heavy menstruation, prolonged menstruation, irregular menstruation, spotty menstruation, increased leucorrhea mixed with blood, etc. This will cause a large amount of iron loss in women's bodies, leading to anemia, and making patients experience symptoms such as drowsiness, fatigue, and listlessness.

2. Causes lower abdominal pain

Because the IUD is a contraceptive ring placed in the uterus, which is a foreign body, some women may not be able to adapt to it and may experience some lower abdominal pain. Especially when the IUD is too large or positioned too low, the uterus will produce a conditioned reflex, contracting to expel the "foreign body", causing abdominal pain. Generally speaking, this soreness will last for 2-3 months before the symptoms subside or disappear and will not affect women's health. If the above symptoms persist for more than 3-6 months, you should seek medical treatment in time. If the treatment is ineffective, the doctor can remove the ring and replace it with another contraceptive ring after a period of observation.

3. Unexpected pregnancy may occur

It cannot be said that IUD insertion is 100% successful in preventing pregnancy, as some people still get pregnant after having it inserted. This is caused by reasons such as the IUD being too small, the IUD being deformed, or the IUD being lowered. If this type of pregnancy with an IUD occurs, an artificial abortion must be performed within 3 months, and induced labor must be performed within 4-6 months, and the IUD must be removed at the same time. Due to the stimulation of the ring in the uterus, the harm of pregnancy with an IUD is much greater than that of ordinary pregnancy, and it may cause lifelong infertility.

4. May damage other organs

Sometimes having an IUD inserted can cause harm, but this is rare. The cause may be improper selection of the IUD or a thin endometrium that causes endometrial perforation, allowing the IUD to enter the abdominal cavity and damage other organs. Generally speaking, the IUD may shift to the bladder, pelvis, and mesentery, causing substantial damage to these organs.

In fact, you don’t need to worry too much about the side effects of IUD insertion. As long as the insertion is performed correctly and combined with pre- and post-operative conditioning, the harm to the body caused by IUD insertion is actually not that great. Moreover, IUDs are safer than other contraceptive methods and do not affect fertility. Women who want long-term contraception can choose IUDs for contraception.
