Arcuate uterus is a congenital disease that generally does not cause any harm to the patient, so no treatment is required. If miscarriage or infertility is caused by arcuate uterus and fertility is affected, treatment is necessary. There are many ways to treat arcuate uterus. The conventional method is surgical treatment, and there are also non-surgical methods, such as uterine fusion or endocrine methods. What is an arcuate uterus? The arcuate uterus (uterus arcuatus), also known as the saddle-shaped uterus, is a type of uterine malformation. It is characterized by underdeveloped uterine fundus, a depression in the middle of the fundus, and a uterine wall that slightly bulges into the uterine cavity. The bilateral Müllerian ducts did not completely converge in the midline, resulting in incomplete fusion of the uterine fundus. The top of the uterus is slightly concave and saddle-shaped, but the uterine body and cervix are normal. Causes of arcuate uterus Arcuate uterus is usually caused by congenital factors. It is caused by the lack of a substance during pregnancy, which leads to abnormal development and mutation. It usually does not cause much harm to the patient and there are no obvious clinical symptoms. Some people are not diagnosed with arcuate uterus until their children are very old. An arcuate uterus can lead to difficulty in pregnancy and easy miscarriage. Arcuate uterus diagnosis If there is a history of ectopic pregnancy, habitual miscarriage, malposition of the fetus in each pregnancy, or dystocia, the possibility of uterine malformation should be considered first. Dynamic digital hysterosalpingography, vaginal four-dimensional color ultrasound and electronic stereoscopic hysteroscopy can confirm the diagnosis. Reproductive organ malformations are often accompanied by urinary system malformations or lower gastrointestinal tract malformations. If necessary, intravenous pyelography or barium enema examination can be performed. When urinary tract or lower gastrointestinal tract malformations are found, a detailed examination is also required to check for reproductive organ malformations, including uterine malformations. How to judge arcuate uterus There are many ways to judge the severity, such as hysterosalpingography, four-dimensional color ultrasound, and hysteroscopy and laparoscopy. Treatment for arcuate uterus 1. Generally, no treatment is required. If symptoms such as multiple miscarriages and infertility occur, the first thing to consider is whether it is an arcuate uterus. 2. Through endocrine therapy, that is, taking endocrine regulating drugs according to endocrine conditions, but this method does not have much effect. 3. Uterine fusion surgery: Patients with recurrent miscarriage should undergo the surgery as early as possible. Make a horizontal incision from one uterine horn to the other uterine horn in the two separated uterine horns, cut the muscle wall in half, and sew the left and right incisions together facing each other. 4. Hysteroscopic treatment: some of the raised mediastinum can be slightly removed through hysteroscopic surgery. |
