Treatment principles for menstrual disorders

Menstrual disorders generally occur cyclically, and their onset follows certain rules. Therefore, for treatment, it is necessary to master these rules. According to different causes of the disease, timely and effective treatment should be carried out to seize the best treatment time. This will not only achieve good therapeutic effects, but also reduce the burden on patients. Let us now understand the treatment principles of menstrual disorders.

(1) Medication before menstruation:

Menstruation is the process of excess essence and blood from the internal organs being regulated by the Chong and Ren meridians and deposited into the uterus. Before menstruation, the woman feels extremely quiet and wants to move, so the main method of using medicine is to unblock the Qi mechanism, spread the Yin and Yang, and regulate the meridians. The medication is used before the onset of menstruation and is mainly suitable for menstrual disorders caused by factors such as liver qi stagnation, qi stagnation, internal heat obstruction, yin fluid deficiency, qi and blood deficiency, and phlegm and dampness obstruction. Such as early menstruation, heavy menstrual flow, scanty menstruation, dysmenorrhea and various complications of menstruation. Take Qi stagnation type dysmenorrhea as an example: Although the main clinical manifestation of this disease is lower abdominal distension and pain during menstruation, most patients feel distension and pain in the chest, flanks, breasts and lower abdomen a few days before the menstruation. If you start taking liver-soothing and Qi-regulating drugs as soon as the above-mentioned symptoms occur before the menstruation, the Qi will be regulated, and the menstrual fluid will flow smoothly after the menstruation, which can improve the efficacy and shorten the course of treatment.

(2) Medication during menstruation:

Menstruation marks the beginning of a new menstrual cycle, when the sea of blood is full and drained, getting rid of the old and giving way to the new. If the old blood is not removed, new blood will not be produced. Removing the old is also for the purpose of better producing the new. During menstruation, Yang is unobstructed and Yin is loose, and menstrual blood flows in. The main method of using medicine is to regulate Qi and activate blood circulation, unblock the uterus, and regulate the menstrual blood. The medication is used during menstruation and is mainly suitable for patients with menstrual disorders caused by factors such as blood stasis, cold stagnation in the meridians, etc. Such as scanty menstruation, irregular menstruation, heavy menstruation, dysmenorrhea and many menstrual complications. Let's take dysmenorrhea as an example: blood stasis type dysmenorrhea, the main pathogenesis of abdominal pain is blood stasis blockage and menstrual disorder. When menstruation comes, take blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing agents in time to disperse the blood stasis and smooth the menstruation, and the pain will naturally be relieved or disappear.

(3) Medication after or during menstruation:

After menstruation, the blood sea is empty, and the yin blood and yang qi are weak. At this moment, deficiency is the main problem, and the medication should be used to nourish the essence and blood, cultivate vitality, and repair the deficiency of the blood sea; during the period, the yin blood gradually becomes strong, and the yang qi recovers, and the medication should be used to regulate qi and blood, and harmonize yin and yang, so as to promote the conversion of yin and yang. The medicine is given when the menstruation is about to end or has ended. It is mainly suitable for menstrual disorders such as too little menstrual flow, clear and light menstrual flow, dizziness during menstruation, blindness during menstruation, post-menstrual cold, low back pain during menstruation, and various symptoms before and after menstruation caused by factors such as deficiency of Qi and blood, insufficiency of spleen and kidney, and deficiency of Chong and Ren meridians. These menstrual disorders are mainly caused by deficiency, most of which have a long course and are difficult to cure within a few days. Therefore, it is suitable to take medicine after or during menstruation. Take dysmenorrhea as an example: For dysmenorrhea caused by qi and blood deficiency, whether it is mainly qi deficiency or blood deficiency, taking qi-invigorating and blood-nourishing medicines after the menstruation is almost over or during the period can make the qi full and the blood abundant. Even if you do not take drugs to treat dysmenorrhea before or during the menstruation, the pain will gradually decrease and gradually get better.
