What to do if you have hemorrhoids during menstruation

There are many situations that female friends may encounter during their menstruation. The most common one is hemorrhoids. If this happens, you should go to the hospital for detailed treatment and examination as soon as possible so that you can prescribe the right medicine. This way you can avoid misdiagnosis. And try to have surgery after the menstruation is over to avoid excessive blood loss during the operation.

Rubber band ligation

Used to treat patients with grade I-III internal hemorrhoids. The principle of rubber band ligation is to insert a rubber band into the root of the internal hemorrhoids, using the elasticity of the rubber band to block the blood supply to the hemorrhoids, thereby causing ischemia, necrosis, and shedding of the hemorrhoids and healing. Pay attention to the choice of ligation position, and do not place it on the dentate line or skin to avoid causing severe pain. The characteristic is that the cost is relatively high.

Doppler-guided hemorrhoidal artery ligation

Used to treat patients with grade II-IV internal hemorrhoids. The principle is to use a special rectoscope with a Doppler ultrasound probe to detect the artery above the dentate line and then directly ligate it, thereby blocking the blood supply to the hemorrhoids and achieving the treatment goal. Postoperative pain is a prominent feature.

Further interventional treatments include simple hemorrhoidectomy, stapled hemorrhoidal mucosal resection, thrombosed external hemorrhoidectomy, etc.

Simple hemorrhoidectomy

Used to treat patients with grade II and III internal hemorrhoids and mixed hemorrhoids. The patient takes the lateral, lithotomy or prone position and undergoes hemorrhoidectomy after anesthesia. This method can also be used for emergency removal of incarcerated hemorrhoids. Postoperative pain is a prominent feature.

Any treatment for hemorrhoids needs to include treatment for other causes of hemorrhoids, such as diarrhea, constipation, and poor bowel habits.

Don’t underestimate anal bleeding and mistake it for hemorrhoids, which may result in it being diagnosed as colon cancer. It is important to have a doctor evaluate and make a professional diagnosis.

The treatment of hemorrhoids should not be excessive, especially for ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and Behcet's disease combined with hemorrhoids. Traumatic treatment methods should be avoided as much as possible.

It is recommended to complete a colonoscopy before treating hemorrhoids to effectively rule out the possibility of other diseases.
