Caesarean section scar picture

The cesarean section scar is the mark left on the wound after surgery. It is generally milky white or grayish white, smooth and hard. About two to three weeks after the surgical wound has scabbed over, the scar begins to grow, and the area becomes red, purple, and hardened, and protrudes from the surface of the skin. There are the newborn's peripheral nerves on the scar, but they are in a mess. After a cesarean section (C-section), the scar on the abdomen will initially appear slightly raised and swollen, and the color will be darker than normal skin color and appear red.

At present, most caesarean sections are performed on the lower transverse incision, which means that your scar is a horizontal scar along the bikini line (the edge of the female pubic hair growth area).

Within 6 weeks after surgery, the cesarean section scar will be significantly reduced. The surgical incision for cesarean section is only 10.2-15.2 cm long and 0.32 cm wide. As the wound heals slowly, the scar will shrink to 0.2 cm wide.

The color of the cesarean section scar will gradually fade to light pink after a few weeks or months. After a year or two, the scar will likely be just a silver line. However, depending on your skin color, your cesarean section scar will always be lighter than your normal skin color, and may eventually become almost invisible.

In the repair of cesarean section scars, mothers should pay attention to some common problems and start from the key points, such as avoiding friction, avoiding sun exposure, etc., to facilitate faster and stronger scar repair.

1. Do not remove the scab of the wound after surgery. Removing the scab too early will remove the epidermal cells that are still in the repair stage, even tear off the dermis, and irritate the wound to cause itching.

2. Avoid excessive friction and movement. Generally, the surface structure and function of scars are not yet perfect, and their epidermis is easily damaged. Some incorrect practices can easily damage them. When rubbing scar medicine, do not use too much force or for too long. If it is at the joints, do not exercise too often, which may cause the scar epidermis to loosen and separate, forming blisters.

3. Prevent sunlight exposure and avoid ultraviolet light stimulation to produce pigmentation;

4. Start prevention in the early stages. Pay attention to ways to prevent scar formation from the very beginning, and be fully prepared at every stage to prevent scar formation. If you want to completely remove scars and restore the skin's original appearance, you need to use scar removal products to achieve ideal results;

5. Pay attention to your diet during the scar repair period. Avoid alcohol, peppers, onions, garlic and other irritating foods that will make the scar itchy.
