Can I drink sugar water during menstruation?

Girls all know that they can soak ginger with brown sugar during menstruation, which can help the body recover better. People say that brown sugar is hot in nature, while white sugar is cool in nature, so people recommend brown sugar. In fact, in recent years, relevant literature has shown that the substances contained in white sugar and brown sugar are actually the same, so drinking brown sugar and white sugar are designed to have the same effect, and there is no difference between cool and hot properties. So, can you drink sugar water during menstruation?

1. Whether it is brown sugar or white sugar, the main ingredients are similar

Brown sugar or white sugar is mainly extracted from sugarcane. Brown sugar is not highly refined, so it contains more original ingredients of sugarcane. 95% brown sugar is sucrose, which contains more trace elements than white sugar. White sugar is relatively refined and has a simpler composition. Domestically, it is mainly sulfonated sugar.

Whether it is brown sugar or white sugar, the main ingredient is carbohydrates, which is also an essential source of energy for the human body. 70% of the energy required for human activities is provided by carbohydrates.

2. What is the purpose of drinking sugar water during menstruation?

Menstruation is also a normal physiological process of the female body, excreting 50-60ml of blood every month, and most people also experience dysmenorrhea.

Therefore, there are two purposes for drinking sugar water: to replenish blood and to treat dysmenorrhea.

Let's see if sugar water has these two effects

1. Blood supplement:

We know that the key to blood supplementation is to supplement iron, so that the human body has enough raw materials to produce red blood cells and make up for the blood taken away by menstrual bleeding. However, both brown sugar and white sugar contain almost no iron, so don't expect them to replenish your blood.

2. Dysmenorrhea:

Dysmenorrhea is divided into primary and secondary. The main causes of secondary dysmenorrhea are endometriosis and adenomyosis. No guide or book has ever mentioned that sugar water can treat endometriosis or adenomyosis.

The mechanism of primary dysmenorrhea is excessive secretion of prostaglandins in the uterus, which causes contraction and spasm of the uterine muscle layer and causes dysmenorrhea. Sugar water has no effect on reducing the secretion of prostaglandins.

Therefore, whether it is primary or secondary dysmenorrhea, sugar water is powerless.

3. If sugar water doesn’t work, can I eat something else?

The discharge of menstrual blood from women every month has basically no effect on the body, and the amount of blood loss can be corrected and replenished by oneself. Therefore, there is no need to supplement blood unless the menstrual flow is excessive, then you can supplement some iron supplements appropriately and treat the primary disease that causes excessive menstruation at the same time.

Dysmenorrhea, no matter what type of dysmenorrhea it is, oral contraceptives and painkillers have certain effects. Secondary dysmenorrhea also requires active treatment of the cause.

You only need to take painkillers for one or two days every month and don't have to worry about any side effects. I have mentioned many times that oral contraceptives have very few side effects and great benefits. There is no need to worry as long as you take it scientifically under the guidance of a doctor.

Of course, if you don’t have dysmenorrhea and your menstruation is normal, you don’t need any additional supplements and can live a good life.
