Is it normal to bleed after 20 days of wearing the ring?

If there is still bleeding after wearing the IUD for 20 days, you should pay attention to it. Generally speaking, a small amount of bleeding in the short term after wearing the IUD is normal. If there is irregular vaginal bleeding all the time, it may be caused by improper wearing of the IUD and may be related to your personal physical condition. If this situation always occurs, you can consider removing the IUD.

Is it normal to bleed after 20 days of wearing the ring?

Many women experience bleeding after having an IUD inserted. Although bleeding after having an IUD inserted is a normal phenomenon in many cases and there is no need to be afraid, if the bleeding lasts too long, it needs to be taken seriously. So how many days of bleeding will occur after having an IUD inserted, and how many days of bleeding is considered normal?

Generally, bleeding occurs 3-4 days after the insertion of the IUD. The causes of bleeding have been mentioned above. This bleeding condition often lasts less than a week and the amount of blood will not exceed the menstrual volume. This is the body's normal rejection reaction or wound healing process and does not require any additional treatment. However, if bleeding continues after a week, you need to go to the hospital for timely medical treatment.

At the same time, abnormal menstrual reactions may occur within three months after the IUD is inserted. For example, the menstrual interval becomes shorter or longer, the menstrual flow increases, or there is spotting. The reason for this is that the presence of the contraceptive ring causes changes in the tissue chemistry of the endometrium and local coagulation problems. Therefore, the material of the contraceptive ring is particularly important. Plastic or copper-containing contraceptive rings will increase the bleeding rate, followed by metal contraceptive rings. The lowest bleeding rate is the progesterone-containing contraceptive ring.

The duration of bleeding depends on personal constitution, but generally does not exceed 15 days.

Bleeding after intercourse

Currently, wearing an IUD is the first choice for contraception for many women after giving birth, but it will definitely have a certain degree of impact on women's bodies. For example, you cannot have sex within a period of time after the IUD is inserted, at least one week, preferably three weeks later. However, some women still experience bleeding after having sex three weeks after the IUD is inserted. What is the reason and what should be done?

Bleeding during intercourse after wearing an IUD is mainly because the contraceptive ring acts as a foreign body in the uterus, which causes mechanical pressure. This pressure in turn causes local damage to the endometrium. In severe cases, it can lead to cell necrosis or ulcers, which manifests as bleeding. Having sex under such conditions will inevitably cause bleeding, and the ring may easily fall off. If you bleed during intercourse three weeks after wearing the ring, it may be that sexual intercourse has stimulated the ring to move out of place. It is best to go to the hospital for a check-up and a B-ultrasound to see if the ring has moved or even fallen off.

Therefore, if bleeding occurs during intercourse after the IUD is inserted, you should stop having intercourse and wait for a while until your body no longer rejects the IUD before having intercourse again. If this situation continues to occur, you should go to the hospital for treatment. If treatment is ineffective, you can consider removing the IUD.
