Which vitamins should women take?

Women are made of water. Women's bodies are more fragile than men's and they need more nourishment, especially vitamins. In fact, the vitamins that women want to supplement are mainly vitamin B6, because it can better transform women's physical constitution and regulate some conditions of women's bodies. There is also the element of folic acid, which should be consumed regardless of pregnancy or preparation for pregnancy.

Vitamin B6

1. Main physiological functions of vitamin B6

1. Participate in the metabolism of amino acids in protein metabolism.

2. Tryptophan can be converted into niacin.

3. Participate in fat metabolism and reduce blood cholesterol levels.

2. Symptoms and toxicity of vitamin B6 deficiency

When vitamin B6 is deficient, adults may experience symptoms such as oily, scaly skin around the eyes, nose, and mouth, called seborrheic dermatitis, which may then spread to other parts of the body; a smooth, red tongue; weight loss; muscle weakness; irritability, and depression. Infants may present with nervousness, muscle twitches, and seizures.

Vitamin B6 is relatively nontoxic. However, large doses can cause drowsiness, and long-term use can become an addiction.

Many women become pessimistic, irritable, and feel weak due to taking birth control pills. A daily supplement of 60 mg of vitamin B6 can slowly relieve the symptoms. Some women also suffer from premenstrual syndrome, which is characterized by pre-menstrual eyelid, hand and foot swelling, insomnia, and forgetfulness. The symptoms can be completely relieved after taking 50-100 mg of vitamin B6 daily. Foods rich in B6 include tuna, lean steak, chicken breast, bananas, peanuts, etc.

Folic acid

Folic acid is a B vitamin widely found in green leafy vegetables. Since it was first extracted from leaves, it is named "folic acid". Folic acid deficiency in humans (or other animals) can cause megaloblastic anemia and leukocytopenia. In addition, studies have found that folic acid is especially important for pregnant women. If there is a lack of folic acid during the first three months of pregnancy, it can lead to neural tube defects in the fetus, thereby increasing the incidence of split-brain and anencephaly. Secondly, regular folic acid supplementation by pregnant women can prevent congenital malformations such as low birth weight, premature birth, and cleft palate (cleft lip) in newborns.

Therefore, white-collar women who are preparing to become pregnant can start taking 400 micrograms of folic acid every day before becoming pregnant. In addition to green leafy vegetables, foods rich in folic acid include carrots, egg yolks, apricots, pumpkin, beans, whole wheat flour, etc.

Deficiency

When folic acid is deficient, the forms of deoxythymidylic acid, purine nucleotides and the interconversion of amino acids are blocked, intracellular DNA synthesis is reduced, and cell division and maturation are impaired, causing megaloblastic anemia.

Small intestinal disease can interfere with the absorption of dietary folate and its recycling through the enterohepatic circulation, so folate deficiency is a common complication of small intestinal disease.

Vitamin C

Main physiological functions

1. Promote the biosynthesis of collagen. It is conducive to faster healing of tissue wounds;

2. Promote the metabolism of tyrosine and tryptophan in amino acids and prolong body life.

3. Improve the utilization of iron, calcium and folic acid.

4. Improve the metabolism of fats and lipids, especially cholesterol, and prevent cardiovascular diseases.

5. Promote the growth of teeth and bones and prevent gum bleeding.

6. Enhance the body's ability to resist stress and immunity to the external environment.

In addition, taking vitamin C on time can also reduce skin pigmentation, thereby reducing dark spots and freckles and making the skin fair.
