Rib pain during pregnancy

Rib pain during pregnancy

In our lives, many women will experience various changes in their bodies after becoming pregnant. They may even feel pain in various parts of their bodies, especially in the late stages of pregnancy. Because at this time, women's stomachs have become particularly large, their stomachs will compress some nerves in the body, and they will feel pain in the ribs or other parts of the body. So what is the reason for rib pain during pregnancy?

Is it normal to have pain in the right rib cage during early pregnancy?

There are several possible reasons for right rib pain in early pregnancy:

1. Uterine enlargement stimulates bones

After you become pregnant, you will feel your belly getting bigger day by day, and then your skin will feel tight. If you love sports, you may feel a dull pulling pain in your abdomen after hiking or playing table tennis, which is similar to normal stomach pain. For some expectant mothers, the enlarged uterus constantly stimulates the lower edge of the ribs, which may cause dull rib pain or pain due to the relaxation and separation of the pubic symphysis, and even lead to limited movement. However, these conditions are normal physiological reactions after pregnancy and do not require special treatment. The pain can be relieved by sleeping in the left side position. Expectant mothers don’t need to worry, the symptoms can be relieved by resting in bed more.

2. Causes such as ectopic pregnancy and uterine adnexal disease

In the early stages of pregnancy, abdominal pain is more obvious and unbearable. Pregnant mothers should have a blood HCG test to rule out ectopic pregnancy, and then further do a comprehensive physical examination to rule out other uterine adnexal diseases.

What are the symptoms of early pregnancy?

1. Cessation of menstruation: This is the most common sign of pregnancy that most people notice. As long as a woman is of childbearing age and has normal menstruation, she may be pregnant if her period stops for more than two weeks after sexual intercourse. But not having your period does not mean you are pregnant. There are many reasons for not having your period, such as poor ovarian function, abnormal hormone secretion, busy work, exam stress, etc., which can all cause late menstruation. Therefore, it is best to get a doctor's diagnosis, which is the safest.

2. Frequent feeling of nausea and vomiting: Almost all pregnant women in the early stages of pregnancy often feel nausea and vomiting, especially at the beginning of the day. These symptoms vary from person to person, and some people have very mild symptoms, while others have very severe symptoms. Unless you have severe nausea and vomiting, you don't need to see a doctor. Otherwise, these are normal phenomena in early pregnancy.

3. Breast pain, swelling and itching: Breast pain, swelling and itching are physiological phenomena in early pregnancy. In addition, there will be other changes such as darkening of areola color, obvious veins under the breast skin, and obvious protrusion of nipples.

4. Easy to get tired: You may get tired easily in the early stages of pregnancy and often feel sleepy.

5. Vaginal mucosal discoloration: In the early stages of pregnancy, the vaginal mucosa may become darker in color due to congestion. This will be determined by your doctor.
