Chronic cervicitis can cause cervical erosion, hypertrophy, polyps, glandular cysts, and eversion to varying degrees, or purulent secretions at the cervical opening. The cervix is ​​hard on palpation. If it is cervical erosion or polyps, there may be contact bleeding.

For patients with more serious conditions, a cervical biopsy can be performed to confirm the diagnosis.
