What are the symptoms of atrophic vaginitis

Unlike male sexual organs, female vagina is an extroverted organ that is susceptible to bacterial infection, leading to gynecological diseases. Most gynecological diseases are mainly manifested by redness, swelling, itching and other phenomena in the lower body, occasionally accompanied by abnormal leucorrhea and the appearance of yellow or blue sticky substances. Atrophic vaginitis is one of the more serious gynecological diseases. So what are the specific symptoms of atrophic vaginitis?

1. Symptoms of atrophic vaginitis

As women age, the endocrine estrogen in their bodies begins to decrease. Estrogen is a hormone that plays an important role in maintaining the health of the body. A significant decrease in estrogen will cause the inner wall of the vagina to become dry and less elastic, and the vaginal mucosal secretions will also decrease. The vaginal lubrication decreases, causing the entire vagina to appear wrinkled (atrophied). Symptoms of atrophic vaginitis include: vaginal dryness, tenderness, itching, increased secretions (bloody), recurrent vaginitis, and difficulty in sexual intercourse. A decrease in hormones may cause: thinning of the vaginal epithelium, loss of sphincter tension and elasticity. Symptoms such as recurrent urinary tract infections, dysuria, frequent urination, urgency, and urinary incontinence may occur.

2. The harm of atrophic vaginitis to women

1. Atrophic vaginitis can cause ulcers on the vaginal wall, leading to vaginal adhesions. In severe cases, it can lead to vaginal stenosis or even occlusion. At this time, the increased secretions will not flow out smoothly, causing pus accumulation in the vagina or even the uterus, aggravating the inflammation.

2. In addition to bacteria, the pathogenic microorganisms that cause vaginitis may sometimes be Trichomonas or Candida. If these two types of vaginitis cannot be diagnosed in time, it will directly affect the treatment effect, and the result will inevitably be half the effort with twice the results.

3. Old age is a high-risk age for various malignant diseases, such as cervical cancer or endometrial cancer. The early manifestations of these diseases are atypical and may be similar to those of atrophic vaginitis. Therefore, it should be given enough attention and medical treatment should be sought.
