What are the degrees for acupuncture for pelvic inflammatory disease?

Pelvic inflammatory disease is a gynecological disease that many female friends will suffer from. When it occurs, patients will feel that their waist becomes very painful. In fact, this is still related to people’s current living habits. Acupuncture can be used to treat pelvic inflammatory disease, but it is only an auxiliary treatment. It still needs to be combined with some medicines to regulate it, and the effect will be more significant.

First of all, it is related to the lifestyle of modern people. In today's society, the pace of life is fast, mental pressure is high, and interpersonal relationships are complicated. These objective factors can easily lead to liver discomfort in women. The liver belongs to wood, and the spleen belongs to earth. Wood energy invades the spleen and injures the spleen. At the same time, white-collar workers in modern society often have eating disorders due to life and work, eating one meal and skipping the next, or are overworked, or are in a state of worry and depression for a long time. Worry and depression will damage the spleen over time. The spleen is responsible for transportation and transformation. When spleen function is damaged, metabolism of food essence is abnormal and turns into dampness. When dampness moves downward, there will be cold pain in the lower abdomen, and a lot of clear and continuous vaginal discharge. When cold and dampness block the meridians, there will be pain in the lumbar spine and cold pain, which will be relieved by heat. When cold and dampness suppress spleen yang, the body will be cold, afraid of cold, and have poor appetite. If these symptoms are not effectively treated, it will eventually lead to a chronic pathological process of spleen and kidney deficiency, and stagnation of cold and dampness. The treatment is mainly focused on warming the spleen and kidneys, eliminating dampness and stopping leukorrhea.

Acupoints to be selected: Guanyuan, Qihai, Pishu, Shenshu, Zusanli, Yinlingquan, and Sanyinjiao. It is best to acupuncture and cupping the above-mentioned acupoints between 9 and 11 a.m. every day, as this is when the spleen meridian qi is at its most active, and treatment can effectively strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness. 5-7 pm is when the kidney meridian is at its most active. At this time, moxibustion can be applied to the Guanyuan, Pishu, and Shenshu points to maximize the effect of warming and nourishing the spleen and kidneys. If conditions permit, applying fire needle therapy on the above-mentioned acupoints will have better effects. The second is chronic pelvic inflammatory disease caused by damp-heat in the lower abdomen. The reason is that women who like to eat spicy food or eat too much sweets or have emotional discomfort and turn into fire, will cause dampness and heat to fight against each other for a long time and accumulate in the lower abdomen, causing pain and distension in the lower abdomen, repeated low-grade fever, excessive vaginal discharge with a mixture of yellow and white, sticky and foul smell, or five-colored vaginal discharge like pus, dripping, yellow, red, and painful urination, chest tightness and discomfort, distension and pain in the ribs, bitter taste in the mouth and dry throat, loss of appetite, uncomfortable bowel movements, and a red tongue with a yellow greasy coating. The treatment is mainly focused on clearing away heat and dampness, soothing the liver and removing turbidity. Acupoints to be selected include Ciliao, Baihuanshu, Zhongji, Li Gou, Yinlingquan, Sanyinjiao, and Zhigou.

Acupuncture combined with bloodletting with a three-edged needle at the acupoints and cupping has a good effect. Patients with this type of chronic pelvic inflammatory disease should try not to use moxibustion. Two acupoints are introduced in detail. Zhongji acupoint is on the Ren meridian, the same as Guanyuan. It is the intersection point of the three Yin meridians of the foot and the Ren meridian. It can clear away heat and dampness and treat lower abdominal pain; Ciliao is an acupoint on the bladder meridian. It is one of the eight Liao acupoints. There are four on each side of the eight Liao acupoints located on the lumbar foramen. Ciliao is located in the second gap of the sacrum. It is best for treating pelvic inflammation caused by damp heat. According to "Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion", Ciliao acupoint is used to treat leucorrhea in women. Clinical observations have shown that patients with chronic pelvic inflammatory disease generally have obvious tenderness or cord-like reactants at the Ci Liao point. Patients can massage the area around the Ci Liao point at ordinary times. If there are string-like reaction substances, press harder until obvious soreness and swelling appear. In terms of diet, you should eat less spicy and stimulating foods.
