Why does menstruation appear black?

Why does menstruation appear black?

Normal menstrual blood for women is bright red blood or mixed with detached membrane pieces. When it is about to end, the color turns dark brown. If the menstrual blood is discharged continuously and the color is obviously black, you should be alert. To be on the safe side, it is best to go to the hospital for an examination and then receive symptomatic treatment or conditioning.

What is the cause of dark menstrual blood?

1. Dark menstrual color may be related to inflammation. In fact, the menstrual blood that comes every month is the blood flowing in the blood vessels in the body, and it should be bright red. However, because menstrual blood is mixed with sloughed endometrial fragments, cervical mucus and vaginal epithelial cells, it looks dark in color and is not as bright red as the blood flowing out of broken skin. There are also some small thin fragments mixed in the menstrual blood. In particular, some people have less menstrual blood, and the color becomes darker as the blood stays in the uterus and vagina for a longer time. Therefore, while paying attention to the color of menstrual blood, you should also pay attention to the menstrual cycle, duration of menstruation, amount of menstruation, and whether you have any discomfort. It is recommended to go to the hospital for a simple gynecological B-ultrasound examination and not to take medicine blindly.

2. Black or dark brown menstrual blood may be caused by blood stasis, which is caused by menstrual blood accumulating in the uterus for a long time. You can take some Chinese medicine that can promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, and try it for a period of time.

3. If the menstruation is always irregular and the menstrual blood is dark in color, it is mostly a symptom of uterine cold. People with this symptom have cold hands and feet all year round. In serious cases, it may cause infertility.

How to treat dark menstrual period

1. Diet adjustment

Dietary regulation can play a certain auxiliary therapeutic role in treating continuous and dark menstrual bleeding. For example, eating some foods such as wolfberry, longan meat, walnuts, mulberries, red dates, ginger, chicken, mutton, etc. on a regular basis can nourish the kidneys and assist yang, thereby reducing or eliminating the symptoms of uterine cold. Symptoms can also be improved through diet during menstruation. For example, drinking mugwort, egg and brown sugar water can warm the uterus and dispel cold, promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, thereby making menstrual blood flow smoothly and improving symptoms of dysmenorrhea and uterine cold.

2. Chinese medicine conditioning

It is generally recommended to drink some uterine warming tea, such as drinking water soaked with angelica, or drinking water soaked with astragalus and jujube, which can replenish qi, regulate menstruation, and expel uterine cold. You can also drink brown sugar ginger tea, which can promote blood circulation and warm the uterus. You can use Chinese medicine to soak your feet. The most common way is to use mugwort to soak your feet. Just boil appropriate amounts of mugwort, pepper and cinnamon in water, and then use it to soak your feet. In addition, you can also use moxibustion to relieve the symptoms of uterine cold. Moxibustion can be performed on acupoints such as Shenque, Baihui, and Hai, with significant results.
